Job Description
The Milwaukee Bucks is a professional basketball team based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, competing in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Besides being a major sports franchise, the Milwaukee Bucks organization prides itself on being one of the top sports and entertainment companies globally. Renowned for its commitment to excellence on and off the court, the Bucks invest heavily in innovation, teamwork, and continuous improvement to maintain a strong connection with its fans and community. The organization is steadfast in fostering a workplace culture that motivates employees to deliver world-class performance while supporting their personal and professional development.
The Milwaukee Bucks are currently seeking a talented and driven Event Sales Manager to join their team full-time in Milwaukee, WI. Reporting to the Director of Event Sales, this crucial role is tasked with maximizing revenue by strategically selling event spaces within the Deer District, a vibrant entertainment hub surrounding the Fiserv Forum arena. This position demands a mix of sales acumen, relationship management, organizational skills, and event coordination capabilities.
The Event Sales Manager will be responsible for executing a comprehensive sales approach that includes cold calling, conducting face-to-face and virtual meetings, networking within the community, and discovering new event opportunities. The individual will also be expected to develop engaging sales content and proposals tailored to prospective clients. Leveraging their knowledge of the entertainment and event industries, as well as their existing network of corporate and social event contacts, will be essential for success in this role.
This position calls for someone adept at handling multiple tasks simultaneously, maintaining an aggressive sales approach while paying careful attention to detail. The Event Sales Manager will collaborate with various internal teams, including Food and Beverage, Marketing, Ticketing, Sponsorships, Finance, Legal, and Deer District tenants, ensuring that event offerings and client expectations are seamlessly met. This collaboration will help enhance the clients' and guests' overall event experience.
In addition to driving new business, the role includes duties like conducting market research for prospects, delivering weekly sales activity reports, attending community and team events to boost sales opportunities, and coordinating with sponsors to ensure events align with brand and sponsorship goals. Operational support involves working closely with the arena management to optimize facility use based on the master calendar of events.
The Milwaukee Bucks offer a robust employee benefits package that focuses not only on health and financial security but also on work-life balance and professional growth. Benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, pet insurance, a 401K with company match, unlimited paid time off, and 12 weeks of parental leave. They also provide unique perks such as NBA league discounts, company-paid parking, a phone allowance, access to employee resource groups, and internal professional development programs through Antler Academy.
This role is an excellent opportunity for a motivated sales professional with at least four years of successful experience in event or corporate sales, seeking to contribute to a dynamic and prestigious sports and entertainment company. The ideal candidate will possess strong persuasion and negotiation skills, a positive and personable attitude, and a deep understanding of the local Wisconsin and Northern Illinois event markets. They must have the ability to adapt quickly to a fast-paced environment, work both independently and collaboratively, and be available to work flexible hours, including holidays, evenings, and weekends. Physical requirements include the ability to lift 25 pounds or more and comfortable navigating the event venues.
The Milwaukee Bucks are an Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employer committed to inclusion and diversity. They provide reasonable accommodations for candidates with disabilities throughout the application and employment process. This is not a remote position and requires presence in Milwaukee, WI. Candidates must successfully complete a criminal background check as a condition of employment.
