The role of Events Sales Manager at Kennedy-King College is a vital position responsible for overseeing the marketing and rental of the college's conference and event facilities. Reporting directly to the Office of the President, the Events Sales Manager plays an integral role in driving the utilization of campus spaces by coordinating outreach to potential clients, managing the sales process, and ensuring smooth event operations. This full-time position offers a competitive salary range from $56,057 to $70,000 annually, with the final salary determined based on the applicant's education, experience, and skills.

In this role, the Events Sales Manager collaborates closely with the Marketing department to develop and implement strategic campaigns aimed at promoting the campus facilities to a diverse array of external organizations. These include profit and non-profit groups, educational institutions, civic bodies, youth organizations, and social groups. Beyond sales and promotion, the manager is tasked with overseeing logistical arrangements for events, coordinating the efforts of janitorial, engineering, IT support, and office staff, as well as managing relationships with outside vendors. A critical focus is placed on delivering exceptional customer service throughout the entire process, ensuring that client inquiries, reservations, and event preparations are handled efficiently and professionally.

The Events Sales Manager ensures compliance with district policies on facility usage, monitors reservation processes, and assists clients with navigating the facility rental web-based applications and payment systems. They also participate in event day logistics, including set-up, coordination of catering services, audiovisual needs, security, parking, and other operational details to guarantee the success of each event. Maintaining detailed records of all sales contacts and preparing revenue reports for management review are additional important responsibilities.

Job Duties

  • Work collaboratively with marketing in implementing strategies to advertise and promote the rental of conference center facilities to external organizations including profit and not-for-profit, educational, civic, youth and social organizations
  • Direct and oversee the services of campus janitorial, engineering, IT support, and office support staff, and outside vendors to schedule and facilitate events, in close collaboration with the director of auxiliary services and other campus administrators
  • Respond to inquiries and follow-up on sales leads, ensuring exceptional customer service during each step of interaction with clients and prospective clients with the goal of providing one-stop shop service in meeting their needs for event space
  • Meet with external clients to discuss event requirements, providing information and walk-throughs of conference hall spaces, meeting or presentation ready spaces, auditorium, and other resources inclusive of catering services and space availability
  • Provide information on the requirements and procedures for the rental and use of campus facilities, availability of space, rental and staffing fees, audio-visual and IT services, Washburne catering services, and other available resources
  • Assist external clients in using the facility rental web-based support application to register and schedule events and the facility rental or insurance online payment application site
  • Review facilities request applications for compliance with CCC’s facilities use policies, including submission and payment deadlines, type of event, and availability of requested date(s)
  • Schedule and confirm reservation requests with clients, monitor and ensure clients complete rental processes by submitting certificate of insurance and payment prior to event
  • Work with clients to plan and carry out events, coordinating the set-up and provision of additional resources such as security, audio-visual, food, and the operational logistics such as parking, deliveries for the day of the event
  • Provide event logistical support, including on-site event day assistance and support as needed, resolve problems and ensure events run smoothly
  • Maintain and update records of all sales contacts with prospective clients and agreements with clients using various software including Excel
  • Prepare sales and revenue generated reports for management review
