The role of the Event Sales Manager at the DCU Center in Worcester, Massachusetts, represents a critical position responsible for driving revenue by booking high-profile, high-revenue producing events across all event spaces within the Convention Center. These events span a wide variety of formats, including association business, conventions, conferences, trade shows, public and private functions, social gatherings, and corporate events. The Event Sales Manager acts as a key promoter for the facility, using sound sales and marketing principles to attract new business and optimize revenue potential. They play an instrumental role in client communications by providing pre-event information and diligent follow-up to secure bookings. Moreover, the manager oversees contract and budget management, including drafting license agreements, negotiating rates, preparing payment schedules, and managing collections. A vital part of the job is developing long-term sales strategies aimed at increasing convention services and maximizing profits for the venue.

In addition to client-facing responsibilities, the Event Sales Manager collaborates extensively with key partners such as the Destination Marketing Organization and local hospitality and tourism stakeholders, including hotels, to evaluate and analyze the economic impact of Convention Center events. They conduct tours and site visits, deliver professional presentations to clients and trade professionals, and maintain important relationships with service providers, decorators, and vendors related to the Convention Center. Internal collaboration is also essential, working closely with teams across all departments to ensure the seamless execution of events. The manager is expected to develop and deliver on specific sales goals and performance metrics, actively contribute to enhancing the banquet and catering business in partnership with the Food and Beverage hospitality team, and coordinate staffing and labor needs with the event management team. As part of their leadership role, the Event Sales Manager serves as Manager on Duty on a rotating monthly schedule, which involves overseeing daily operations and addressing on-site needs. This role requires flexibility in working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to support the dynamic schedule of events at the DCU Center. The compensation for this position ranges from $70,000 to $85,000 annually and includes a competitive salary complemented by a generous benefits package offering medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, paid vacation, and a 401k plan.

Job Duties
