The university boasts a dynamic campus environment with state-of-the-art facilities designed to foster collaboration, creativity, and professional growth among its students, faculty, and staff. Drexel's emphasis on cooperative education and real-world experience equips its graduates with the skills needed to excel in their chosen careers and contribute meaningfully to society.
The Event Sales Coordinator role at Drexel University plays a vital part in maximizing the usage and revenue potential of the university's event spaces by focusing on external event rental sales. This part-time position, averaging 20 hours per week with potential for increased hours during peak seasons such as the summer months and commencement, offers a hybrid and flexible work arrangement to accommodate a balanced work-life schedule. The salary for this position ranges from $21.71 to $32.57 per hour, aligning typically with the minimum to midrange based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and departmental budget considerations.
As the primary sales representative for external clients interested in utilizing Drexel's event venues, the Event Sales Coordinator manages the entire sales process, from initial inquiry through to contract signing, event delivery, and follow-up. Responsibilities include responding promptly to client inquiries, qualifying leads, preparing customized quotes, and arranging site visits to showcase Drexel’s versatile facilities. The coordinator uses proactive sales approaches to convert prospects into confirmed bookings, thereby increasing the utilization and profitability of university spaces.
Beyond lead generation and sales, the role involves detailed contract preparation and coordination to ensure all contractual obligations such as insurance certificates and compliance paperwork are accurately handled. Close collaboration with campus departments like facilities management, audio-visual support, and security is also crucial to guarantee seamless event execution. This position demands excellent organizational skills to juggle multiple client accounts and timelines effectively while maintaining high service standards.
The Event Sales Coordinator acts as the on-site contact during events for external clients, providing support and troubleshooting to uphold the quality and success of each rental experience. This includes availability for evening and weekend events, emphasizing the need for flexibility and responsiveness. Additionally, the role requires diligent tracking of sales metrics, lead conversions, booking trends, and revenue outcomes using event management software or customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
Overall, this position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about event sales, hospitality, and client management to contribute to Drexel University’s mission by optimizing the use of its exceptional event venues. It suits candidates who thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment and possess strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
