The Rigging Manager role at Encore is a pivotal leadership position responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient execution of rigging operations within designated venues, particularly those approved by Encore for rigging activities. This role plays an essential part in maintaining rigorous safety standards while managing all aspects of rigging labor, equipment, and production coordination. The Rigging Manager is entrusted with approving rigging designs based on structural data and weight limitations, ensuring compliance with both internal protocols and industry regulations.

As a Rigging Manager, the individual will supervise and develop a team of riggers, including hiring, training, and career mentorship to ensure a highly competent and cohesive workforce. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including production teams and clients, to analyze load distributions with the help of CAD software and to execute load calculations and safety inspections. The Rigging Manager supports ongoing equipment compliance efforts by adhering to OSHA standards, conducting site inspections, and making informed recommendations for the acquisition and maintenance of rigging equipment.

The Manager also takes charge of scheduling labor and equipment to facilitate efficient load-ins and load-outs for events. This responsibility extends to participating in site visits during major productions to uphold safety and operational efficiency. Furthermore, the Rigging Manager contributes to the strategic development of Encore-produced shows, ensuring all rigging activities align with timeline objectives and standard operating procedures, including motor maintenance programs and aerial performances.

This position demands strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, and the ability to manage cross-functional teams while fostering a culture of safety and excellence. Candidates for this role are expected to have substantial experience in theatrical or entertainment rigging environments, along with proficiency in CAD software and Microsoft Office applications. Physical capability to meet the demands of rigging work is essential, along with flexibility to work irregular hours and the willingness to travel up to 50 percent. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 4+ years of rigging experience in entertainment theatrical or production environments
  • 2+ years of experience managing rigging teams preferably of 10+ riggers
  • ETCP certification preferred
  • lift certification
  • lift operation experience
  • ground operation experience
  • high rigging with harness experience
  • proficiency in CAD software
  • ability to interact professionally and effectively with customers and leadership teams
  • working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook Excel Word and PowerPoint

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Supervise riggers on show site
  • hire train and develop full-time riggers
  • assist in all aspects of team member training career development and performance management
  • develop a pool of part-time riggers for local and regional support
  • provide leadership for rigging services support to venue teams
  • provide rigging safety compliance information and assist with field assessments
  • perform load calculations and approve working load limits
  • utilize CAD software for analysis of weight distributions
  • review and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and annual equipment certifications
  • recommend and escalate safety and compliance needs
  • coordinate and schedule labor and equipment for load-in and load-out
  • attend major production site visits to ensure safety and efficiency
  • assist in creating Encore produced shows ensuring timeline efficiency and compliance
  • lead cross-functional team activities from concept to delivery
