Job Description
Off The Grid is a dynamic and innovative placemaking platform based in the San Francisco Bay Area, dedicated to activating local businesses and community spaces through unique, in-person experiences. With a vision to bring people together, Off The Grid organizes dozens of weekly public markets, corporate catering services, and large bespoke conferences and events. The company serves as a crucial connector, bringing hundreds of local food creators and more than 100,000 guests together each week. By transforming spaces into vibrant hubs of community and connection, Off The Grid fosters an environment where hospitality and memorable guest experiences are paramount. Off The Grid operates with a focus on authenticity, community involvement, and the highest standards of event production, making it a leader in the event and hospitality sector of the Bay Area.
The role of Event Production and Catering Manager at Off The Grid is vital to the company’s continued success and reputation for excellence. This position acts as the chief architect of the OTG event experience, embracing the hospitality philosophy that it 'happens for you, not to you.' This managerial role is responsible for translating the unique vision of each client, along with Off The Grid’s internal creative vision for its public markets and events, into a detailed and executable plan. The Event Production Manager ensures excellence by establishing systems and standardized processes that guarantee repeatability and effectiveness across various event markets, public events, and catering engagements.
Reporting directly to the Head of Operations, the Event Production Manager works closely alongside the Onsite Event Manager to form a leadership duo for OTG’s event operations. While the Onsite Event Manager focuses on the execution and management of events in the field, the Production Manager is accountable for all upstream activities including vision setting, curation of creators and partners, establishing brand and operational standards, and preparing the event-ready production plans. This collaboration ensures that every event runs smoothly, with each component harmoniously aligned with OTG’s standards.
The ideal candidate is an experienced event or catering production professional, with a client-first mindset and a refined ability to curate and design exceptional experiences. Responsibilities include leading the curation of vendors and event creators, developing and maintaining operational standards and repeatable systems, producing detailed catering orders and public event playbooks, and cultivating strong relationships with venue partners and key accounts throughout the Bay Area. The role also involves managing a dedicated team of Catering Event Producers, providing coaching, feedback, and training to ensure consistent high-quality delivery.
This full-time, exempt salaried position offers a competitive annual salary range of $105,000-$115,000, primarily focusing on weekday planning hours, with some evening and weekend responsibilities to support event operations. The role requires regular travel throughout the Bay Area with a primary office location in San Francisco. Physical demands include onsite presence for extended periods with occasional lifting and outdoor work in varying weather conditions. Off The Grid is committed to inclusivity and welcomes applicants from all backgrounds to join their innovative team, reflecting the diverse communities they serve.
