The Event Producer role at Joel Catering is a vital position in the organization, responsible for the full lifecycle of event management, from the initial production handoff up to six months prior to the event through to on-site execution. This role requires a dynamic leader who excels in client communication, creative event design, operational coordination, and hands-on management during events. The Event Producer's responsibilities include guiding clients through layout planning, timeline development, and event design, while carefully managing budgets to enhance the guest experience. They are tasked with coordinating vendors, staffing, equipment, and internal teams such as kitchen, warehouse, delivery, and front-of-house operations. A key part of the role involves ensuring compliance with venue guidelines when producing events at Joel-operated locations and maintaining clear communication with all stakeholders throughout the event planning process.
On the day of the event, the Event Producer leads the on-site execution team, overseeing setup, service flow, staff supervision, and breakdown. They are expected to troubleshoot any challenges swiftly and maintain calm leadership under pressure to uphold the exceptional standards of the Joel Experience. Job Requirements
- Based in the Greater New Orleans area
- 5+ years of event production, hospitality management, or catering experience
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple complex events simultaneously
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- Genuine interest in food and hospitality
- Able to work evenings, weekends, and event schedules
- Experience with event software is a plus
- Commitment to accountability and ownership
Job Qualifications

- Experience with Caterease, Prismm, or similar event software is a plus
- Commitment to accountability, ownership, and follow-through
Job Duties
- Own events from production handoff through execution
- Guide clients through layouts, timelines, and event design decisions
- Finalize event details within approved budgets and identify opportunities to enhance the guest experience
- Ensure all production paperwork, proposals, and documentation are accurate and complete
- Coordinate vendors, staffing, equipment, and internal teams including kitchen, warehouse, delivery, and FOH
- Collaborate with sales and operations teams to ensure smooth event transitions and planning continuity
- Lead on-site execution including setup, service flow, staff supervision, and breakdown
- Troubleshoot challenges in real time and maintain calm leadership during live events
- Ensure venue presentation, service standards, and event flow meet Joel expectations
- Maintain operational readiness and proactively address issues before they impact the guest experience
