The Event Prep Cook role at Oak View Group entails preparing high-quality food items to serve guests throughout a venue. The Event Prep Cook will often engage with the public directly, working in areas such as buffet lines where they may slice meats or prepare dishes to order. This position offers an hourly wage ranging from $20.00 to $23.00, providing competitive compensation for part-time employment. Responsibilities include preparing hot and cold foods by following company-specific recipes and portion sizes, ensuring all food products are fresh and delivered promptly to guests. This role requires collaboration within a team setting, contributing to the overall efficiency and excellence in food service. Maintaining sanitation, health, and safety standards in the kitchen and work areas is paramount, along with monitoring kitchen equipment functionality and reporting any maintenance requirements. The Event Prep Cook is also tasked with careful portioning, arranging, and garnishing of food plates, working closely with the Event Lead Chef, Executive Chef, Sous Chef, or Kitchen Supervisor to plan menus and estimate food consumption. A key component of the role is the demonstrated ability to uphold consistent, excellent attendance to meet the demands of an event-driven, fast-paced work environment.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous cook or prep cook experience highly preferred
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment such as broiler, steamer, convection oven, mixer, meat slicer, and chef's knife
  • Valid food handling certificate if required by state and federal regulations
  • Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with team members and guests
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented, event-driven environment
  • Availability to work events and maintain excellent attendance

Job Qualifications

  • Previous cook or prep cook experience is highly preferred
  • Able to operate standard kitchen equipment, including the broiler, steamer, convection oven, mixer, meat slicer, and chef's knife
  • Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management staff, and guests in a clear, business-like, and respectful manner that focuses on generating a positive, enthusiastic, and cooperative work environment
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment
  • Possess a valid food handling certificate if required by state and federal regulations
  • ServSafe preferred

Job Duties

  • Responsible for providing high-quality, fresh food products in a timely manner for delivery to guests
  • Prepares hot and cold foods following company recipes and portioning requirements
  • Participates as a team player with specific responsibilities as related to preparation, excellent service, and delivery of product
  • Responsible for reporting any maintenance required for kitchen equipment
  • Maintains sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas
  • Responsible for observing and testing foods to ensure proper cooking
  • Responsible for portioning, arranging, and garnishing food plates for delivery to guests
  • Responsible for consulting with Event Lead Chef, Executive Chef, Sous Chef or Kitchen Supervisor to plan menus and estimate expected food consumption
  • Show demonstrated ability to meet the company standard for excellent attendance
