Job Description

The American Heart Association (AHA) is a renowned nonprofit organization with a profound history and mission dedicated to cardiovascular health and disease prevention. Established in 1924, the AHA has played a pivotal role in cutting cardiovascular disease deaths in half through scientific research, education, and community outreach programs. Committed to advancing progress against today's significant health challenges, the organization combines passion, innovation, and collaboration to foster healthier lives and communities. The AHA's presence extends nationwide, with a strong focus on inclusivity, diversity, and comprehensive wellness for all individuals regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, or background.

Within this impactful framework, the American Heart Association is currently seeking a highly motivated and energetic Event Planning Coordinator to join their team in Glen Allen, Virginia. This full-time, office-based role offers the opportunity to contribute to the success of some of the region's most prominent and mission-critical events, including prominent fundraisers like the Richmond Heart Ball, Hard Hats with Heart, VIP Chef's Challenge, and exclusive donor experiences hosted by the Cor Vitae Society. The role demands a detail-oriented individual who excels in managing high-profile events and thrives in fast-paced environments.

The Event Planning Coordinator will primarily focus on supporting fundraising campaigns and donor engagement events in the Central Virginia market but may also assist with events in other regions. Responsibilities encompass comprehensive planning, coordination, and execution of events, working closely with internal teams, community leaders, corporate sponsors, vendors, and volunteers to ensure seamless event delivery and a memorable experience for all attendees. This position provides critical logistical expertise and day-of-event support, from venue and vendor management to financial tracking and volunteer coordination.

As a member of a collaborative team of Event Planning Coordinators, the successful candidate will contribute to a culture of excellence, innovation, and mission impact. This position requires occasional travel, including overnight stays, to support events across the region, and the ability to work outside of standard hours, including weekends, as necessary. The American Heart Association emphasizes work-life balance and professional development by offering resources like Heart U, an award-winning corporate university, and numerous training and mentoring opportunities.

Compensation for this role ranges between $22.00 to $27.00 per hour, commensurate with experience, reflecting the organization's commitment to providing competitive pay and total rewards. The position is classified as non-exempt and involves a 37.5-hour workweek. Beyond monetary benefits, employees gain access to comprehensive health insurance options, retirement plans with employer match, paid time off, and an inclusive, supportive workplace culture defined by #TheAHALife.

By joining the American Heart Association as an Event Planning Coordinator, you'll be playing a vital role in advancing a transformative mission to save lives and improve health outcomes. This is more than a job; it is an opportunity to be part of a significant movement that impacts lives positively and promotes a healthier, equitable future for all communities. If you are passionate about event management, enjoy dynamic teamwork, and want to leverage your skills for a purpose-driven cause, this position offers an engaging, challenging, and rewarding career path.
