Job Description
Makers Market is a vibrant and dynamic organization dedicated to supporting and celebrating the craftsmanship and creativity of independent artists, makers, and small businesses in the Bay Area. As a platform rooted in community values, Makers Market curates and hosts thriving outdoor market events that bring together talented entrepreneurs who create exceptional and distinctive products. They provide a unique opportunity for makers to transform their side projects and creative passions into successful, sustainable businesses. With a keen focus on reviving and honoring the legacy of American-made craftsmanship, Makers Market has established itself as a trusted hub for creative entrepreneurs seeking growth and community engagement.
The role of Event Manager at Makers Market is a multifaceted and entrepreneurial position designed for someone who has a true passion for craftsmanship and supporting independent businesses. This role is not just about organizing events; it is about curating vibrant markets that are thoughtfully assembled with diverse, high-quality makers. The Event Manager is responsible for recruiting exceptional makers, building and executing market events, identifying new revenue growth opportunities, and championing the organization's mission. This position requires an individual with excellent taste, strong relationship-building skills, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities with autonomy and accountability.
Responsibilities include growing the community of Bay Area artists and makers, curating compelling market lineups, expanding market locations, managing day-of-event operations, and supporting marketing efforts. The Event Manager will have considerable flexibility and ownership over their work, contributing directly to the success and vibrancy of each market. This job is especially rewarding for those who love discovering new talent, fostering entrepreneurial success, and creating memorable experiences for both makers and customers.
Success in this role is measured by business outcomes such as high market occupancy rates, strong maker participation, seamless event execution, and continuous market growth. The job demands an entrepreneurial spirit, proactive engagement in business development and partnerships, and a hands-on approach to operational management. This position also involves marketing support and the cultivation of strong community relationships, ensuring Makers Market events remain fresh, differentiated, and highly relevant in the local scene.
The compensation for this role is an annual salary of $70,500 with performance-based bonus opportunities linked to market occupancy and successful event management. Additionally, medical, dental, and vision insurance options are available, along with paid time off, making it a well-rounded employment package. This role requires some weekend availability, reliable transportation for traveling across the Bay Area, and a willingness to embrace the dynamic nature of event production roles.
If you are a builder who thrives on autonomy, ownership, and making a meaningful impact by championing creative entrepreneurs, this is the perfect opportunity. Makers Market invites passionate, resourceful, and entrepreneurial-minded individuals to join their mission to rebuild the legacy of American-made craftsmanship by supporting the talented makers who keep these traditions alive.
