Job Description
StoneX Group Inc. is a leading global financial services firm with a robust workforce of over 5,400 employees operating in more than 80 offices across six continents. The firm prides itself on connecting a diverse client base of over 80,000 institutional, commercial, and payments clients to global markets, leveraging its status as a Fortune 100 and Nasdaq-listed company. StoneX Group focuses on innovation, fostering human connections, and delivering world-class products and services tailored to various types of investors, ranging from retail clients to institutional investors. This diversity in client engagement underpins the company’s expansive reach and its reputation for excellence in the financial services sector. StoneX’s expansive business structure is segmented into four main areas, providing ample opportunities for career growth and development, whether one's interests lie in retail trading or institutional investing. The corporate segment, in particular, plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of the company by engaging in vital activities such as strategic marketing, financial management, human resources, and operational oversight. This segment offers unique opportunities for professionals to drive process optimization and introduce impactful policies that enhance organizational performance.
The role of Event Planner, Global Events, sits at the intersection of StoneX Group’s marketing vision and operational execution, supporting the company’s branding and client engagement strategies through event management. Reporting directly to the Head of Global Events, the Event Planner is entrusted with the comprehensive planning and management of company-hosted and internal events, predominantly within North and South America, with occasional responsibilities extending to international trade shows. This position demands meticulous attention to detail, robust organizational skills, and the ability to coordinate a multitude of event components independently. The Event Planner functions as the accountable leader for events they manage, ensuring that every aspect is delivered flawlessly, whether or not they are physically present at the event. Collaboration with supplier-partners such as hotels, destinations management companies (DMCs), and other vendors is essential, alongside close cooperation with internal stakeholders to align each event with corporate goals and audience needs. Additionally, the role encompasses partnership with the Event Marketing team to promote events effectively through customized registration platforms and tailored collateral. Financial oversight of vendor payments and the management of event promotional strategies to maximize exposure and generate quality sales leads also fall within the Event Planner’s remit.
This position is ideally suited for individuals who thrive in dynamic environments, can independently manage workloads, and excel at balancing multiple priorities to meet strict deadlines. A solid foundation in project management, strong problem-solving abilities, and excellent interpersonal skills are critical for success. The role also demands technical proficiency with common software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, alongside the ability to leverage specialized event management tools such as Cvent. Given the nature of the work, the Event Planner should be prepared for an estimated 35% travel commitment to attend onsite events, predominantly within the Americas. StoneX values attention to detail highly and expects candidates to bring a keen eye for precision in all event activities. While experience in event or trade show management is preferred, it is not mandatory, ensuring this role remains accessible to entry-level professionals eager to develop their expertise within a global financial services environment. Fluency in Spanish and contract negotiating skills are considered advantageous, reflecting the company’s multicultural reach and the importance of robust partnership management. The position is based onsite in West Des Moines, IA, offering compensation appropriate to entry-level roles in the region, and represents a significant opportunity to grow within an internationally respected organization committed to innovation, client connection, and professional development.
