Job Description
SCI Shared Resources LLC is a prominent organization specializing in funeral and mortuary services, operating with a commitment to compassion and respect for families during their times of loss. Based in Santa Ana, California, this company is dedicated to celebrating lives and supporting their associates in a meaningful way. Their philosophy revolves around honoring the memory of loved ones while providing excellent services through a professional, caring, and detail-oriented approach. The establishment offers a comprehensive range of funeral services, crematory operations, and floral arrangements, creating holistic and personalized experiences for families.
The company is currently seeking a motivated and skilled Event Planner to join their team on a part-time basis at their Fairhaven Memorial Park Mortuary Crematory and Flower Shop location. This position plays an essential role in planning and implementing events within a short timeframe to support funeral services, visitations, and receptions according to the client family's wishes and contractual agreements. The Event Planner is responsible for coordinating multiple resources, vendors, and internal staff to ensure seamless and dignified events that honor the deceased and provide comfort to attendees.
This role demands an individual who thrives under pressure, is highly organized, and has excellent communication skills to manage expectations and logistics effectively. The position requires not only careful planning but also hands-on involvement during the events to resolve any arising issues promptly. The Event Planner must coordinate a variety of elements such as facility space, equipment, décor, transportation, and vendor services while maintaining a budget and adhering to strict deadlines. They will also work closely with the Funeral Director for contract clarifications and ensure that the service arrangements align perfectly with family requests.
In addition to event planning, the role includes administrative responsibilities. The planner will source local vendors for services like catering and flowers, ensure compliance with corporate guidelines, develop menus, and maintain an up-to-date Event Playbook that records key performance indicators and lessons learned. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to ongoing improvements and enhancements, promoting efficiency and excellence in service delivery.
The position offers flexible hours with expectations to work nights and weekends, corresponding to the timing of most services, usually averaging less than 20 hours per week Monday through Friday during normal business hours. Compensation ranges from $16.65 to $21.55 per hour, depending on experience, education, skills, and performance. Part-time associates are eligible for benefits including a 401(k) plan. This role is ideal for someone with a background or strong interest in hospitality, event planning, or related fields, who values working in a compassionate and supportive environment.
