Job Description
Elephants Delicatessen is a well-established catering company known for delivering exceptional catering services with a strong emphasis on quality, sustainability, and community values. The company prides itself on its core values of Standard of Excellence, Unity, and Sustainability, which are integral to its operations and employee culture. Elephants Delicatessen specializes in providing full-service catering for a variety of events including social gatherings, corporate events, non-profit functions, and educational events. Their approach combines creativity, attention to detail, and a commitment to customer satisfaction, making them a trusted partner for high-end catering needs.
The role being offered is that of a Catering Sales and Event Planner, a pivotal position within the Elephants Catering team. This full-time role, typically scheduled for 40 hours per week with a flexible 9 am to 5 pm workday, also requires occasional weekend work. The successful candidate will be responsible for soliciting, planning, and helping execute large, high-end events from start to finish. This includes social, corporate, non-profit, and educational functions. The individual will serve as the primary contact for large venue partners and clients, managing relationships and ensuring all aspects of the catering process run smoothly.
Key responsibilities include maintaining and inputting orders into the catering software, managing final billings and payments, and supporting the procurement of partner venues. The planner is expected to remain current with industry trends by networking with competitors and attending relevant trade shows. On-site participation at events is sometimes required, enabling the planner to oversee execution and ensure client satisfaction. The work environment is typical of an office setting but may expose employees to common allergens and cleaning agents, requiring a certain level of physical activity such as sitting, standing, reaching, and occasional lifting. Physical demands include the ability to move weights of up to 25 pounds occasionally and having visual acuity suitable to the planning and execution duties.
This position requires a candidate with at least a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of four years experience in sales or a call center environment, coupled with demonstrated success in meeting goals. Computer literacy, including proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook, is essential, as is current or food handler certification. A clean driving record, valid driver’s license, and access to a reliable vehicle are also necessary due to site visits and venue coordination. Preferred qualifications include experience with Caterease or similar event space planning software and prior wedding planning experience, which would add significant value to the role.
