Job Description
Riggs Washington DC is a distinguished hotel situated on the iconic downtown corner of Penn Quarter's 9th and F Street. The hotel is housed in a historic building that was formerly home to the Riggs National Bank, providing a unique blend of rich history with contemporary hospitality. Riggs boasts 181 guest rooms, each thoughtfully designed to pay homage to the building's legacy while offering modern comforts. The establishment is well-known for its all-occasion European brasserie-inspired restaurant, Café Riggs, that serves sophisticated cuisine in an inviting ambiance. Additionally, Riggs is home to Silver Lyan, a subterranean bar crafted by the internationally acclaimed mixologist Ryan Chetiyawardana, also known as Mr Lyan, which adds to the distinctive guest experience.
The role available at Riggs Washington DC focuses on Banquet and Event Operations, key to delivering exceptional service during a wide variety of events including weddings, meetings, and special celebrations. This involvement includes overseeing the setup, execution, and breakdown of banquet functions and ensuring that every event detail is flawless. The position demands an individual who can effectively supervise banquet servers, bartenders, housepersons, and support staff, thereby sustaining a seamless and professional operation throughout each event. Coordination and communication are vital, as the candidate will liaise with various departments such as culinary, stewarding, audio visual, and hotel leadership to meet and exceed guest expectations.
Beyond operational excellence, this role requires leadership capabilities to assist with training and development of banquet team members, supporting scheduling and workforce management, and maintaining a positive work environment that upholds the hotel’s high standards in policy compliance, grooming, attendance, and safety. The position is hourly paid at $20 per hour and requires flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays to accommodate the dynamic nature of event scheduling.
Riggs Washington DC is committed to employee development and growth. The hotel offers comprehensive benefits for full-time employees, including medical, dental, and vision insurance. Team members enjoy perks such as complimentary nights at Lore Group hotels, exclusive employee and family rates, significant discounts at partner hotels and the hotel’s own dining venues, paid vacation with incremental annual increases, company-paid life insurance, and various support and recognition programs. The hotel proudly fosters an inclusive workplace and is an equal opportunity employer, welcoming diverse candidates to apply for this exciting opportunity in the hospitality industry.
