Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- minimum age of 19 years old
- valid state driver’s license
- ability to work a variable schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- willingness to obtain TIPS certification
- ability to stand and walk for up to 8 hours
- ability to lift, push, pull, or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally up to 75 pounds
- ability to work in various weather conditions
- strong customer service skills
- ability to multitask and meet deadlines
- good judgment and problem-solving skills
- strong communication skills
- ability to lead and work well as part of a team
- basic math skills and experience with cash registers
- knowledge of Zoo policies and willingness to learn other areas
- ability to follow directions and manage event logistics
Job Qualifications
- Valid state driver’s license
- high school diploma or equivalent
- experience in events helpful but not required
- minimum age of 19 years old
- willingness to obtain TIPS certification within three months
- experience in event planning, food and beverage service, or prior hospitality experience is helpful
Job Duties
- Follow Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium policies and standards
- serve as a positive representative of Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium with a professional and friendly attitude
- handle customer or guest inquiries and provide excellent customer service
- obtain all necessary information prior to the event including event information sheet
- obtain and maintain all necessary equipment and supplies for the event
- set up and tear down tables, chairs, signage, tents, and any other event needs
- communicate team goals, timelines, and other expectations prior and during events
- lead team members, provide resources, answer questions, and step in when needed
- assist external vendors upon arrival with location and logistical needs
- escort guests and vendors on a golf cart or other Zoo vehicle
- maintain cleanliness of atmosphere, bar, and facilities
- assure bar arrangements are ready to serve before event
- follow food handling and beverage procedures according to policies and state laws
- ensure proper set-up, tear down, and storage of equipment and supplies
- operate cash register, collect payment, and make change
- account for drink tickets and turn them in at event end
- manage event logistics including venue setup, teardown, staffing stations, and replenishing supplies
- assist bartending staff with bar setup
- ensure proper handling and storage of liquor, garnishes, and mixers
- ensure event staff arrive promptly
- assist clients, guests, and vendors throughout event with troubleshooting
- serve as main contact for clients
- check facility conditions and monitor safety and compliance during event
- fill out necessary reports and forms
- ensure building readiness for next day and secure premises
- fill in where necessary to fulfill event success
- dismiss event staff at end of event
- communicate comments and concerns with management
