Kansas City Current is a distinguished professional women's soccer team known for its pioneering spirit and commitment to excellence both on and off the field. As the proud home to a best-in-class training facility and the first stadium constructed expressly for a women's sport team, Kansas City Current stands as a trailblazer in the realm of women's sports. The organization’s mission extends beyond athletic success; it is devoted to cultivating the fullest potential of its athletes and making a positive, lasting impact on the Kansas City community. This holistic approach underlines the organization’s unique positioning at the intersection of sport, community, and empowerment.
As an organization, Kansas City Current is dedicated to hiring and retaining top-tier talent to uphold its standards of excellence. They welcome individuals with diverse perspectives, skills, and backgrounds who are passionate about delivering extraordinary experiences to fans and guests. The team fosters an environment of professional growth and development, offering robust opportunities for advancement within their front office, stadium, and event operations departments. Employees benefit from competitive pay structures, comprehensive healthcare and wellness packages, and extensive employee resources, including networking opportunities geared towards career development.
The Event Operations Assistant role at Kansas City Current offers a dynamic, part-time, and highly variable event-based work schedule, ranging from zero to 29 hours per week depending on event volume and operational requirements. The position plays a critical role in supporting match day operations, training facility activities, and a variety of special events hosted across the team’s venues. This hands-on role involves direct collaboration with multiple internal departments such as Event Operations, Team Operations, Medical, and Security to ensure seamless event execution and unparalleled guest satisfaction.
Responsibilities for this role include managing setup and breakdown of on-field equipment and elements, supervising ball retrievers, facilitating safe and organized movement of participants and guests, and acting as a liaison between key stakeholders during events. The Event Operations Assistant also supports emergency preparedness efforts by assisting with Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) and responding appropriately to incidents.
Furthermore, the role entails coordinating plaza and fan activation setups, assisting with wayfinding and transportation logistics, and serving as the on-site facility contact during evening team practices at the University of Kansas Training Facility. The assistant also manages field rental transitions and supports weekend tournaments, camps, and other special events at the training facility.
This role requires flexibility, as the assistant must work nights, weekends, and holidays as per event needs. The job is physically demanding, involving prolonged standing, walking, lifting heavy equipment, and working outdoors in various weather conditions. Ideal candidates possess a strong interest in event, facility, or sports operations with excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
Kansas City Current is an equal opportunity employer committed to workforce diversity. It actively seeks to hire exceptional individuals from all backgrounds and ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local nondiscrimination laws. It also provides reasonable accommodations during the employment process and for current employees when necessary to support inclusivity.
