Job Description

The North Tahoe Chamber, an integral part of the North Tahoe Community Alliance, is a vibrant organization dedicated to promoting and supporting community events and local businesses in the scenic North Lake Tahoe region. They are renowned for fostering a connected and thriving community atmosphere through various initiatives, including their popular summer events. Located in the picturesque Kings Beach State Recreation Area, the chamber acts as a catalyst for tourism, local business growth, and cultural enrichment, making it a pivotal player in this beautiful part of California.

One of their most anticipated annual events is the "Music on the Beach" summer concert series, a lively and engaging gathering that takes place over 10 Fridays from June through early September. This event series is designed to bring together both residents and visitors of all ages to enjoy live music in an inviting outdoor setting right on the shores of Lake Tahoe. The event not only promotes local artists and vendors but also enhances community bonding and provides memorable experiences in a relaxed, festive environment.

The Event Operations Assistant role for Music on the Beach is a key position responsible for ensuring the flawless execution of each concert evening. This seasonal, part-time position involves hands-on event support, including the setup of equipment and infrastructure, coordination with various event teams, and assistance with both the technical and logistical aspects of the event. Candidates in this role will gain valuable experience working in a dynamic, outdoor environment, interacting with a diverse group of community members, vendors, and volunteers.

Scheduled typically from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM on event days (with some flexibility in ending times), the position spans 10 Fridays throughout the summer, providing consistent, engaging work for the duration of the series. Compensation ranges from $23 to $25 per hour, reflecting the role's responsibility level and the physical demands involved. Working closely with the North Tahoe Chamber staff and other event participants, the Event Operations Assistant supports everything from initial event setup—such as unloading and organizing equipment, erecting shade structures, and managing beverage carts—to troubleshooting basic event technology and maintaining supply levels during events.

Additionally, the assistant plays a vital role during the event by managing supplies, assisting vendors, supporting volunteer coordination, and maintaining a professional and welcoming presence that enhances the overall attendee experience. After each event, they help ensure a thorough and efficient teardown, returning all rented or borrowed items to proper storage and securing the site for the next event.

Ideal applicants will possess strong communication skills, reliability, and the ability to problem-solve under changing conditions, embracing the challenges of a fast-paced outdoor environment. Experience in event coordination, hospitality, or volunteer management is preferred, along with a basic understanding or willingness to learn event-related technology. Physical stamina is also essential, as the role requires lifting heavy items, standing for extended periods, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

The North Tahoe Chamber encourages applicants who are motivated, organized, and eager to contribute to a beloved community event that brings joy and connection to the area each summer. This role not only offers a competitive wage but also offers a unique opportunity to be part of an iconic local tradition, build valuable skills, and work alongside passionate community members and professionals dedicated to enriching the North Tahoe region.
