Job Description
Liberty University is a renowned Christian religious-affiliated institution that prides itself on its commitment to fostering an environment of professionalism, outstanding customer service, and community engagement in alignment with the Liberty Way. With a vibrant campus culture and numerous events held throughout the year, the University Events Office plays a critical role in facilitating and managing both internal university functions and external events. The office acts as a central hub for coordinating event logistics, ensuring smooth operations, and providing comprehensive support to event coordinators and university service personnel.
The Event Officer position at Liberty University offers a unique opportunity for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in event management within a dynamic educational setting. This part-time role is ideal for students or individuals working towards a degree in business, marketing, or related fields who want to develop practical skills in event planning, customer service, and office administration. The starting pay rate for this position is $12.77 per hour, with pay varying based on the responsibilities, required skills, and market conditions.
As an Event Officer, you will assist the University Events Office in handling a wide range of duties related to event organization and execution. This includes providing on-site support during events, assisting with scheduling and logistics using tools such as 25Live, and maintaining open communication with clients, vendors, and other university staff. You'll be responsible for developing and cultivating positive relationships with both internal and external customers to ensure their needs are met efficiently and professionally. Your role extends beyond the events themselves and includes office tasks such as data entry, responding to inquiries via phone and email, and offering front desk welcome services.
The position requires a blend of physical activity and office work. You should be prepared to move small materials and occasionally lift up to 10 pounds. Mobility within campus facilities, including walking, climbing stairs, and standing for extended periods, is essential. This role also involves travel to various locations on and near the campus using your personal vehicle, so a valid Virginia driver’s license, acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance are mandatory.
Working in this role means embracing and fostering Liberty University’s mission and values, upholding university policies, standards, and operational procedures for the University Events Office. You will play a key part in maintaining a professional, safe, and welcoming environment for all events coordinated by the university. This position demands strong organizational and communication skills as well as the ability to solve problems both routine and complex creatively and efficiently.
By joining Liberty University as an Event Officer, you become part of a team that is dedicated to excellence in service delivery and event management in an academic environment. You will gain valuable experience in event coordination, customer relations, teamwork, and administrative functions—ideal preparation for a future career in business, marketing, or event management.
