The Event Manager role at Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas centers on planning, coordinating, and executing all conferences and events held at the hotel, ensuring the highest level of service and satisfaction for clients and guests. This full-time position requires a dynamic individual capable of maximizing meeting and event sales revenue through effective upselling and maintaining strong, lasting relationships with new and existing customers to generate repeat business. The Event Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Catering and Events department, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration with Food and Beverage and Operations teams to guarantee flawless event delivery.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous event management experience
  • Experience in sales or customer service
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively
  • Proficiency with event management software and Microsoft Office
  • Availability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Job Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in an Event Planning Environment
  • Previous experience in a Sales environment either proactive or reactive
  • Good administration skills
  • Good organization skills
  • Proven customer service experience
  • Able to develop positive working relationships at all levels
  • Good understanding of Catering & Events business
  • Awareness of company and competitor environment
  • Able to close a sale
  • Good personal presentation

Job Duties

  • Maximize all Meeting & Events Sales revenue opportunities through up selling of function items
  • Ensure the highest standards of Event Management are in place including building relationships with new/existing customers to secure rollover business
  • Manage the department's day-to-day operations and activities ensuring implementation of selling strategy yields meetings and events space
  • Ensure the Meeting & Events Team Members are developed effectively and generate a culture of high-quality standards for relationship building, customer service, selling techniques, and billing and processing contracts
  • Build strong relationships with customers, Guests and Team Members to gain full understanding of their needs and work to serve them effectively
  • Accurate administration and control of all Meetings and Events related reservations and blocks
  • Ensure all Function Sheets are handed over the Food and Beverage Operations Team every week with accurate, confirmed information and billing details documented
  • Meet & greet nominated conference contact or organizer to check on satisfaction and setup of meeting rooms on event day
  • Conduct Show rounds for companies & agents in line with the Company policy
  • Support Food & Beverage operations and room reservations team with information as required
  • Ensure all information is relayed to the Chef and Operations Team timely for effective ordering and rostering
  • Attend Sales events as required
  • Support in other properties within the Cluster as needed according to business needs
  • Review business plans, identify gaps and ensure proactive efforts to fill capacity and meet targets
  • Contribute to the selling strategy of the hotel, managing adherence to achieving that strategy
  • Raise invoices for Events in line with quotations and forward to accounts departments with backup documentation to expedite payment
  • Understand the competitive marketplace and implement approaches to ensure the hotel stays ahead locally
