The Department of Wisconsin Athletics is an integral part of the campus community, supporting a wide array of sports and athletic programs that engage both local fans and national audiences. This specific role is based within the Event Management team of Wisconsin Athletics, which is responsible for coordinating major events at iconic venues such as Camp Randall Stadium and the Kohl Center. These venues host everything from collegiate athletic contests to large-scale concerts and special events, providing an exciting and dynamic work environment.
This Event Manager position is a regular, full-time academic staff role with a starting salary of at least $65,000, though the exact compensation may be negotiable depending on the candidate's qualifications. The role is situated on-site in Madison, Wisconsin, enabling close collaboration with various stakeholders. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in orchestrating live events, working closely with event promoters, production managers, and internal department staff. Their primary responsibilities include managing every detail of the event lifecycle, from pre-event planning to on-site execution and post-event settlement.
The Event Manager will liaise between diverse stakeholders, ensuring seamless communication and coordination that align with client contracts, production riders, and venue standards. This attention to detail ensures that every event meets the highest expectations for quality and attendee experience. In addition to concerts and special events, this role supports athletic contests across the department's 23 varsity sports programs, with a focus on managing a specific sport depending on the individual's strengths and departmental needs.
Ideal candidates will bring a passion for live events and concert booking, coupled with strong organizational skills and creative problem-solving abilities. The position requires an individual who remains calm and effective under pressure, demonstrating adaptability in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. Teamwork and strong work ethic are critical as the role involves coordinating with multiple internal and external partners to deliver outstanding event experiences.
Depending on experience, the position may be titled Event Manager or Senior Event Manager, recognizing the breadth of responsibility and expertise required. The department also offers comprehensive benefits including generous paid time off, competitive insurance plans, retirement savings options, and unique perks such as Badger gear and season tickets for key athletic events. Overall, this role offers an outstanding opportunity for a motivated event professional to contribute to Wisconsin Athletics' tradition of excellence and community engagement.
