We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Event Planner to join the dynamic team within the School of Medicine, specifically supporting the Department of Neurology and Cognitive Neurobehavioral divisions. This full-time role offers a hybrid remote work option, allowing for a flexible schedule that combines remote work and on-site presence at the Executive Park 6 location in Atlanta, GA. As an integral part of the Marketing and Communications team, this position requires a strategic thinker and effective collaborator with a passion for creating seamless and innovative events that enhance institutional goals and community outreach.

The Event Planner will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing a wide range of meetings, functions, and special events across multiple units and departments. This role demands strong organizational skills, creativity, and finesse in managing event operations from conception through completion. The successful candidate will partner with various internal staff and external clients to define event objectives, develop operational strategies, manage budgets and vendors, and oversee event communication materials including invitations and promotional literature.

Key responsibilities also include facilitating event briefings, coordinating speakers and presenters, leading event program production, and managing volunteers and staff where applicable. Post-event evaluations will be conducted to analyze success metrics, identify improvement opportunities, and implement best practices for future events. Continuous professional growth is encouraged through research and networking to incorporate innovative event concepts. The position also offers leadership opportunities, including potential staff supervision.

This role mandates residency in the state of Georgia and requires candidates to be able to commute to Emory University at agreed-upon intervals despite the flexible remote work policy. Job Requirements

  • Minimum three years of related experience or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training

Job Duties

  • Plans and executes meetings, functions, and special events for multiple units and departments
  • Collaborates with staff and clients to establish event goals and objectives

  • Determines fiscal requirements for events, prepares budgetary recommendations, and negotiates terms with vendors

  • Oversees and facilitates event briefing and coordination of speakers and presenters
  • Provides leadership, direction, and coordination among speakers, staff, and volunteers during event program and production
  • Prepares post-event analysis to assess opportunities and make recommendations for improving events and services to internal and external constituencies
  • Seeks out innovative and creative ideas for events through research, networking, and continuing education classes
  • May supervise staff
  • Performs related responsibilities as required
