The role of the Event Manager at Oak View Group is pivotal to ensuring the seamless execution and management of live events. This position involves comprehensive oversight of assigned events from the early stages of planning through to the conclusion of the event. The Event Manager is responsible for hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising all event staff, working closely with building security, and liaising with local public safety officials to guarantee events operate smoothly and safely. An integral part of the role is to coordinate communication among event personnel and security staff, ensuring clear delegation of duties and swift resolution of any issues that arise.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of event management experience in a stadium, arena, convention center or public assembly facility
  • Bachelor's degree in facility management, hospitality management, business, or related field
  • strong oral and written communication skills
  • proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • knowledge of event operations and crowd control
  • ability to identify facility users’ needs
  • knowledge of customer service and supervision principles
  • experience with fire and public safety regulations
  • familiarity with A/V equipment
  • experience managing budgets
  • flexibility to work irregular hours and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years of increasingly responsible experience in event management in a stadium, arena, convention center or public assembly facility setting
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university with major coursework in facility management, hospitality management, business, or related field
  • strong oral and written communication skills
  • strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications, word processing, and Internet
  • knowledge of operational characteristics of events
  • ability to identify the needs of facility users
  • knowledge of crowd management and control techniques
  • knowledge of customer service practices

  • demonstrated familiarity with facility use contracts
  • knowledge of fire and public safety regulations
  • knowledge of A/V equipment and electronic systems in public assembly facilities
  • experience with budget preparation and control
  • familiarity with entertainment, convention, or public assembly terminology
  • experience with AutoCAD preferred but not required
  • able to work flexible schedules including long nights, early mornings, weekends and holidays as needed

Job Duties

  • Advance, plan, service, and supervise all events
  • plan, manage, and evaluate the work of subordinates
  • provide leadership and guidance for event personnel
  • analyze challenges, identify alternative solutions, and project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations
  • communicate clearly and concisely
  • establish and maintain effective working relationships with lessees, clients, co-workers, part-time staff, contractors, patrons, public and municipal officials
  • complete all duties with a customer service focus through teamwork and dedication
  • assist in the preparation of building to meet the requirements of upcoming events and shows
  • assist with completion of pre-show event financial estimates
  • assist with completion of post-show event settlements
  • advise lessees on services available from independent contractors
  • recruit, train, and supervise event and security staff
  • create work schedules and delegate assignments
  • function as liaison between facility users and staff
  • recommend and evaluate required staffing levels
  • coordinate communication during load-in and load-out
  • investigate and resolve event-related complaints
  • maintain event and security equipment
  • make hospitality arrangements
  • communicate with municipal officials and public safety services
  • review emergency planning procedures
  • create and distribute detailed data sheets before events
  • prepare and approve bi-weekly payroll
  • coordinate with food and beverage providers
  • serve as Manager on Duty as scheduled
  • perform other duties as assigned
