Job Description
The hiring establishment is a prominent event venue management company that operates premier facilities including the Saint Paul RiverCentre, Roy Wilkins Auditorium, and Grand Casino Arena. These venues host a diverse range of events such as conventions, trade shows, meetings, graduation ceremonies, dance competitions, galas, sporting events, and concerts. This company prides itself on providing exceptional customer service and a seamless event experience for clients, which requires a dedicated team that excels in flexibility, detail orientation, and high-volume quality work under tight deadlines. Known for fostering a collaborative and fast-paced work environment, the organization supports growth and innovation within the event planning and facility management field.
The Event Manager role offered is a full-time position with an annual salary range of $50,000 to $52,000. This crucial position is primarily responsible for planning and executing a wide variety of events hosted within the company’s venues. Serving as the primary contact for clients, the Event Manager is entrusted with strategically and creatively meeting all client needs while ensuring that all operational aspects of the event—from budgeting to staffing to production—are handled efficiently. This includes being the liaison between clients and internal departments or external partners, ensuring smooth coordination across various event elements such as parking, staging, equipment, signage, and event settlements.
The Event Manager actively collaborates with venue staff to ensure a successful event execution and takes charge of supervising the event proceedings to deliver high client satisfaction and memorable experiences. This role demands proficiency in facility management knowledge, event planning logistics, and the ability to handle emergent challenges independently under pressure. Familiarity with CAD software for event layout planning and a good grasp of union regulations like those of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) are preferred. A willingness to adapt and take on diverse responsibilities is highly valued given the dynamic nature of the events industry.
Candidates for this role should bring one to two years of experience in event management within a facility setting, preferably a convention center, hotel, or meeting facility, alongside a bachelor’s degree or equivalent educational background. The Event Manager’s tasks include conducting facility tours, developing detailed event plans, estimating labor needs, resolving issues during events, preparing invoices, and supporting business development efforts. This role requires excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work a flexible schedule that accommodates nights, weekends, holidays, and last-minute event demands.
Additionally, this company emphasizes compliance with safety protocols, fire code regulations, and life safety procedures, maintaining a commitment to providing safe and inclusive environments for event attendees and staff. They also maintain robust benefits including medical, dental, vision insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off, reflecting their dedication to supporting employees’ well-being. The company follows equal employment opportunity practices and is committed to providing accommodations in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Overall, the Event Manager role offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be part of a dynamic team that delivers high-profile events and supports the vibrant community of Saint Paul and surrounding areas.
