The role of the Event Manager at Maggiano's Little Italy is a pivotal position responsible for the seamless planning and execution of banquet events. This position requires the candidate to manage all aspects of banquets from the moment an event is booked through to its successful completion. The Event Manager will work closely with the Sales Manager, Culinary, and Restaurant Leadership teams to ensure that every event meets or exceeds guest expectations. The responsibilities include overseeing room setup, seating arrangements, staffing, menu coordination, and day-of-event management, ensuring that all details are executed flawlessly.

This full-time role requires a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment. The Event Manager must have strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively while maintaining a strong guest-service focus. Their role includes conducting pre-event meetings with the team, managing banquet staff, and serving as the primary on-site contact for hosts, ensuring timely event execution and problem resolution. Additionally, the Event Manager will be responsible for maintaining and enforcing banquet standard operating procedures, managing inventory related to banquet service, and collaborating with culinary staff on food timing and presentation.

Financial oversight is also a critical component of this role. The Event Manager monitors banquet profitability by controlling labor costs, food costs, and other expenses. They support menu pricing, review event performance, and track key performance indicators related to guest experience and operational efficiency. Cross-functional collaboration with Sales Managers and IT/vendor partners ensures smooth communication and system functionality related to banquet events.

To excel in this role, the Event Manager must have a minimum of three years' experience in hotel, catering, or banquet operations, along with proven leadership skills in event execution and service team management. Knowledge of banquet service standards, ability to interpret and execute Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), and proficiency with banquet systems and CRM tools are essential. Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays is required to meet the needs of the events. Successful candidates will demonstrate excellent guest service, strong conflict resolution capabilities, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Job Duties

  • Own all event details once the event is booked and handed off from sales team
  • review contracts, BEOs, and event notes for accuracy and completeness
  • create and manage event timelines, layouts, seating charts, and room assignments
  • coordinate menu selections, special requests, dietary needs, and service style
  • schedule banquet staff based on event size and service requirements
  • lead day-of execution, ensuring events start on time and run according to plan
  • serve as primary on-site contact for hosts during events
  • conduct pre-event meetings with teams to review logistics and service expectations
  • develop, communicate, and enforce banquet standard operating procedures
  • hire, train, coach, performance manage, and support banquet teams on service standards and execution excellence
  • ensure rooms are properly set according to diagrams and guest specifications
  • maintain inventory related to banquet service, linens, A/V, and equipment
  • partner with culinary team on timing, flow of food, and menu execution
  • monitor banquet profitability through labor, food cost, and expense control
  • support menu pricing, updates, and rollout execution
  • review event performance and address service recovery when needed
  • track and drive results on banquet guest experience metrics and KPIs
  • partner with Sales Managers to ensure clean event handoffs
  • communicate changes to menus, guarantees, and setup in a timely manner
  • work with IT/vendor partners on banquet systems, phones, printers, and CRM tools
  • maintain banquet event systems, room setup libraries, and menu files
  • review reports related to revenue, lost business, repeat business, and guest feedback
  • ensure accuracy of BEOs and event documentation
