You will be the driving force behind the planning and execution of significant events, particularly focusing on weddings, from initial client contact through to the flawless conclusion of the event. Emphasizing a strong "can-do" mindset, this position requires dedication to managing every event detail including client liaison, contract negotiation, budget management, and coordination with various departments and vendors. Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in hospitality, event management, or related field preferred
- 3+ years of experience in wedding planning, sales, or hotel sales preferred
- Proficiency with Opera, Oracle Cloud or similar hotel room systems
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work various shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Physical ability to attend site inspections and client visits
- Commitment to maintaining positive team relations
- Willingness to travel locally for trade shows and networking
- Demonstrated ability to meet sales and booking goals
Job Qualifications
- 3+ years of wedding planning and sales experience, hotel sales preferred
- Opera, Oracle Cloud or relative rooms system experience required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Word and Excel preferred
- Ability to coach, counsel, and develop employees
- Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate a team culture
- Experience setting the scene for high performance in a team environment
Job Duties
- Emphasize wedding planning, detailing, and execution
- Provide exceptional customer service through relationship development with clients
- Gather information about client objectives, budget, and preferences
- Provide advice and suggestions regarding food and beverage menus, décor, and entertainment
- Create schedules of all activities for staff to follow during events
- Communicate with vendors and suppliers before, during, and after events
- Manage event budget to ensure costs stay within budget expectations
- Work with banquet department staff including servers and kitchen staff
- Prepare correspondence for clients, booking reports, and maintain files
- Demonstrate professional presentation skills at industry trade shows, sales calls, and networking functions
- Maintain awareness with key account contacts and meet monthly booking goals
- Communicate account information to appropriate departments via hotel systems
- Sell the hotel aggressively using solution-based approaches
- Maintain knowledge of competition in current and changing conditions
- Maintain integrity of sales records and reports including databases and sales forecasts
- Participate in revenue strategy and forecast meetings
- Join team brainstorming sessions and client events as requested
- Conduct site inspections and escort client visits
- Promote the hotel through industry involvement and exposure at events
- Maintain positive employee relations and work with the marketing team on sales initiatives
- Ensure team follows company procedures and policies
- Support development, training, and mentoring of associates
- Perform other job-related projects or duties as requested
