The University of Nevada, Reno is a public research university known for its commitment to academic excellence, innovative research, and community engagement. As a leading institution in higher education, the university offers a diverse range of programs and services designed to support student success and foster an inclusive campus environment. Situated in the vibrant city of Reno, the university attracts students, faculty, and staff committed to making a positive impact locally and globally. The Development and Alumni Relations Division plays a key role in strengthening the university's connections with its alumni and supporters, facilitating fundraising efforts, and organizing impactful events that celebrate the university community and promote engagement.
The Manager, University Events position within the Development and Alumni Relations Division is a pivotal role responsible for planning and managing multiple university events, generally accommodating fewer than 300 guests. Reporting directly to the Director of University Events, this position involves overseeing all facets of event planning and execution, including the creation of invitations and themes, menu design, program details, and the coordination of event set-up and strike. The manager will provide leadership and decision-making support to university support staff, campus crews, and external vendors to ensure events are executed seamlessly and uphold the high standards expected by the President of the University. This role requires a keen eye for detail, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to manage various stakeholders effectively.
In addition to managing smaller events independently, the Manager supports the Director in planning and executing larger, more complex events. The position offers a full-time employment opportunity at the associate level, with competitive compensation commensurate with education and experience. Candidates typically hold a Bachelor's Degree with at least two years of related work experience or a Master's Degree with one year of related work experience in event planning, program production, or a similar field.
The University of Nevada, Reno provides a robust benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, generous leave options, membership to fitness centers, employee discounts, and access to counseling services. The university is an inclusive employer fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment, making this an excellent opportunity for professionals passionate about event management within a dynamic academic institution. The role may require work during evenings, weekends, and extended hours to accommodate event schedules, reflecting the vibrant and active calendar of university events. This position not only demands exceptional event management skills but also offers the chance to contribute meaningfully to the life and culture of the university community, supporting fundraising and alumni relations through memorable and well-executed events.
