Job Description
This opportunity is available with a leading convention and community center that specializes in hosting large-scale events, conferences, and tradeshows. The company has established a reputation for delivering exceptional event experiences by combining functional, innovative spaces with dedicated event management professionals. They cater to a wide range of clients including corporate organizations, nonprofit groups, and local government agencies. Known for their commitment to excellence and attention to detail, they provide comprehensive event services from planning through to execution and post-event settlements. The center incorporates modern technology and works closely with preferred service providers and third-party vendors to ensure seamless event production.
The role of Event Manager is pivotal to the success of the center’s event operations. Reporting to the Director of Events, the Event Manager is responsible for the detailed planning, production, and management of complex events such as multiday conferences, tradeshows, and other client engagements. This role requires managing client communications from the initial tour and consultation stage through to the final event conclusion, including the critical function of preparing final event settlement paperwork and ensuring prompt collection of payments. In addition to client-facing responsibilities, the Event Manager orchestrates internal coordination by generating and distributing work orders and event diagrams to all relevant departments and vendors.
On-site management is a core element of this position. The Event Manager oversees event setup according to client specifications, manages onsite client services, and takes leadership as Manager on Duty during event-driven and schedule-based shifts. This involves handling last-minute changes, troubleshooting challenges, coordinating amongst internal teams and external contractors, and maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The Event Manager also collaborates regularly with community and city officials on logistical needs such as street closures, parking arrangements, and commuting logistics.
Strong organizational skills, problem-solving abilities, and exemplary customer service aptitude are essential in this role. The Event Manager also participates in planning and operational meetings to ensure smooth production and supports continuous improvement efforts within the Events Department. Responsibilities extend to assisting in implementing new programs and department-wide initiatives under guidance from senior management. A flexible schedule is necessary to accommodate evening and weekend events, reflecting the dynamic nature of the event industry.
This position requires hands-on leadership, advanced project management capabilities, and the ability to work effectively under pressure. It provides a challenging and rewarding career path for professionals passionate about event management who value teamwork and client satisfaction. Competitive salaries and comprehensive benefits typically accompany positions at this respected event-focused venue, contributing to employee satisfaction and retention.
