The role of Event Manager at Lakehouse Resort is integral to maintaining the high standards and reputation of the venue. This full-time position requires a proactive and dynamic individual who can manage all aspects of event planning and coordination from inception to completion. An Event Manager is expected to exhibit a "can-do" attitude, working collaboratively with various departments and external vendors to deliver flawless events. A primary focus of this role is wedding planning, encompassing the detailed coordination and successful execution of the couples' big day. The position involves engaging with clients to understand their objectives, budget, and preferences in order to provide expert advice on food and beverage menus, décor, and entertainment options.

Beyond direct client interaction, the Event Manager is responsible for preparing comprehensive schedules for event staff, liaising with vendors and suppliers throughout all stages of an event, and managing the event budget to ensure expenses stay within set limits. This role also requires communication and coordination with the banquet and kitchen teams to ensure smooth service delivery during events. Additional duties include maintaining accurate records and reports, participating in marketing and sales initiatives, attending industry trade shows, and actively supporting the training and mentoring of junior staff.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality management, event planning, or related field preferred

Job Duties

  • High emphasis and focus on wedding planning, detailing, and execution
  • provide exceptional customer service through relationship development with the client, gather information about client objectives, budget, and preferences
  • provide advice and suggestions regarding food and beverage menus, decor, and entertainment
  • create schedules of all activities for staff to follow during events
  • communicate with all vendors and suppliers before, during, and after the event
  • responsible for managing event budget to ensure costs stay within the budgetary expectations
  • work with banquet department staff including servers, kitchen staff, and other workers
  • prepare correspondence for clients, internal booking reports and file maintenance
  • demonstrate your professional presentation skills at industry trade shows, sales calls and networking functions
  • maintain top of mind awareness with key account contacts, sales calls, networking, entertainment
  • meet monthly booking goals as indicated by the annual business plan and budget
  • communicate all account information to appropriate departments via hotel database systems
  • sell the hotel aggressively, utilizing a solution-based approach to securing business in a way that delivers positively against customer and account needs
  • maintain a working knowledge and awareness of the competition in current and changing conditions
  • responsible for maintaining the integrity of sales records and reports including the sales database, account files and sales forecast
  • actively participate in revenue strategy and forecast meetings with revenue manager and other members of the leadership team
  • participate in team brainstorming sessions, hotel staff meetings and client events as required for specific business situations, or as requested by director of sales and marketing or general manager
  • conduct site inspections, escort client visits, actively entertain and personally interact with customers, as appropriate for transient travel development
  • promote the hotel through regular industry involvement and exposure at local and national events
  • maintain positive employee relations in a supportive, team-oriented environment
  • work with the marketing team for sales initiatives on different mediums like the internet, print and electronic media
  • ensure that the team follows the companys procedures and policies
  • actively support the development, training, and mentoring of associates and accept such responsibilities as assigned by the director of sales and marketing or general manager
  • perform other job-related projects or duties as requested by director of sales and marketing
