The position of Event Lead at Resource Central is a seasonal, part-time role that offers an incredible opportunity for individuals passionate about water conservation and community engagement. Reporting to the Water Programs Manager for the Garden In A Box initiative, this role is centered on supporting one of Colorado’s most important environmental concerns: water conservation. The Garden In A Box program is an impressive effort that partners with over 60 local municipalities and water providers to distribute more than 13,000 professionally designed, low-water garden kits annually. These kits are specially tailored to meet the unique landscaping and climate needs of Colorado residents, helping them establish waterwise gardens that contribute to regional conservation goals.

As an Event Lead, the individual will play a critical role in the logistical coordination and execution of these garden kit distribution events, which primarily occur in August and September. The position is hands-on and in-person, requiring the lead to travel extensively along Colorado’s Front Range regions, including Northern Colorado, Central Front Range, Denver Metro, and Southern Urban Corridor. Additionally, some events will require travel to mountain and western slope locations such as Durango, Grand Junction, Aspen, Eagle, Summit County, and Steamboat Springs. This travel component adds an exciting dynamic for candidates who enjoy varied work settings and community interaction.

The typical work schedule involves event days that can last 8 to 9 hours, three to four days per week during the peak season, with additional flexible shifts available for event preparation. The hourly pay range is between $20.00 and $22.00, complemented by benefits such as mileage reimbursement, paid training, a cell phone stipend, and accrued paid sick leave. Given the physical demands of event setup and distribution, the role requires the ability to lift up to 30 pounds routinely and to be comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, rain, and snow.

Success in this role requires exceptional leadership and customer service skills since the Event Lead will be responsible for ensuring participants and volunteers have a positive, welcoming experience while maintaining safe and efficient event operations. This includes organizing event supplies, coordinating with volunteers and vendors, managing event setup and teardown, and effectively communicating with all involved parties. The Event Lead also upholds safety best practices and fosters an inclusive atmosphere where all participants feel valued and supported.
