Job Description
Resource Central is a respected nonprofit organization based in Boulder, Colorado, with a longstanding history dating back to 1976. As an award-winning entity, Resource Central is focused on making conservation effortless and accessible, helping individuals and communities save water, reduce waste, and conserve energy. The organization has impacted over one million people through its innovative programs and partnerships, positioning itself as a leader in environmental conservation across Colorado. Resource Central’s commitment extends beyond education; it actively engages with diverse communities statewide, embracing inclusivity and fostering sustainable practices that respond to Colorado’s unique environmental challenges. The organization is known for its collaborative efforts with municipalities, water providers, and local partners to drive meaningful change within the region.
The Event Lead position at Resource Central is a seasonal, part-time role that plays a critical function in supporting the Garden In A Box program—a flagship initiative aimed at promoting water-efficient landscapes across Colorado. This program partners with over 60 municipalities and water providers to distribute professionally designed, low-water garden kits tailored specifically for the Colorado environment. In the role of Event Lead, candidates will have the opportunity to be involved at the frontline of these distribution events, which mostly occur during the late summer and early fall months, primarily August and September. The position involves both in-office preparation and extensive in-person work at event sites throughout the state.
The successful candidate will use Resource Central’s company vehicle to travel between the Boulder office and various event locations, spanning several regions including Northern Colorado, the Central Front Range, Denver Metro, and the Southern Urban Corridor. There will also be occasional travel to more remote mountainous and Western Slope areas like Durango, Grand Junction, Aspen, Eagle, Summit County, and Steamboat Springs. Event Leads can expect a dynamic work schedule averaging three to four event days per week, each lasting approximately 8 to 9 hours. Flexible shifts at the office are also available to support event logistics and preparation. Compensation ranges from $20.00 to $22.00 per hour, with additional benefits including mileage reimbursement, paid training, a cell phone stipend, and accrued paid sick leave.
This position is ideal for individuals passionate about environmental conservation and interested in leading impactful community-based events. Strong leadership, organizational skills, and the ability to manage volunteers and coordinate logistics are essential. Event Leads act as vital representatives of Resource Central, ensuring that each event runs smoothly, maintains a welcoming and inclusive environment, and successfully supports the community engagement goals of the Garden In A Box program. This role offers a chance to be part of a transformative movement to establish waterwise landscaping as a standard practice in Colorado, directly contributing to long-term environmental sustainability efforts.
