Job Description
Jeffrey A. Miller Hospitality Group, commonly known as JAM, is a well-established hospitality company specializing in off-premise catering for weddings and special events across the Tri-State area. Known for its commitment to high-quality hospitality and exceptional event execution, JAM has built a strong reputation and loyal client base. The company operates notable venues including Bellevue Hall and Cauffiel Estate in Wilmington, Delaware, making it a preferred choice for memorable weddings and celebrations. JAM is committed to fostering a supportive work environment where event professionals can grow and excel. They emphasize personalized service, meticulous attention to detail, and client satisfaction, setting them apart in the competitive wedding planning and catering industry.
The part-time Event Designer role at JAM is integral to maintaining the company’s standard of excellence. This hybrid position combines remote work and in-person presence at events and client visits. The Event Designer works closely with clients to ensure every detail of their wedding or event is planned to perfection, from initial consultations through to the day-of coordination. Responsibilities include scheduling and conducting appointments for menu development, food tastings, and floor plan discussions, responding promptly to client communications, and completing detailed event planning paperwork used by various departments. On event days, the Event Designer serves as the primary point of contact, overseeing execution and client satisfaction.
Candidates should expect a comprehensive training period of 6 to 8 months under a designated mentor, with a commitment to planning at least 15 wedding events starting in 2027. Each wedding typically requires about 20 to 25 hours of work, split evenly between client-facing and behind-the-scenes duties. The hybrid model supports flexibility, allowing remote scheduling and communication for most administrative tasks, while client meetings, venue walkthroughs, rehearsals, and day-of coordination must be conducted in person, primarily on weekends. Compensation for this commission-based role ranges from $700 to $1200 per event, with potential gratuities and bonuses for exemplary performance and additional responsibilities. JAM also provides a training stipend upon completion and offers opportunities for additional paid hours as an Assistant Event Coordinator. This role is ideal for organized, personable individuals with excellent planning skills who thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and enjoy making special moments unforgettable.
