Job Description

A reputable college located in Baltimore is currently looking to hire dedicated Event Set Up and Break Down Specialists. This educational institution takes pride in creating a dynamic, engaging campus environment for its students, faculty, and community partners by hosting various events throughout the year. The college is committed to excellence in every aspect of its operations, including event management, which plays a crucial role in supporting academic functions, social activities, and external partnerships. Providing opportunities for professional growth and fostering a supportive work atmosphere, the college serves as an ideal workplace for individuals seeking to contribute to a vibrant campus culture while advancing their careers in event logistics and hospitality.

The role of Event Set Up and Break Down Specialist is essential in ensuring the smooth execution of both internal and external events at the college. Scheduled primarily Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with weekend shifts on Saturday and Sunday as needed, this position demands flexibility and a proactive work ethic. Candidates must be ready to start immediately with the contract running until October 1, 2026, with a possibility of extension based on performance and institution needs. The position offers a competitive hourly wage of 22 dollars, paid weekly, which reflects the college's commitment to valuing and rewarding the hard work of its staff.

In this hands-on role, professionals will be responsible for setting up and breaking down event spaces in accordance with detailed floor plans and client requests. This requires a special attention to detail to ensure that all components of the event, from seating arrangements to equipment placement, are flawlessly executed. Additionally, the role involves maintaining an accurate inventory of event materials, equipment, and supplies to avoid any disruptions during event preparation or execution. Effective communication is key, as specialists will also assist in answering phones and triaging client concerns on behalf of managers and coordinators, requiring a calm demeanor and problem-solving skills in fast-paced scenarios.

This position is ideal for individuals who thrive in environments that require multitasking, teamwork, and adaptability. Applicants who have prior experience in hospitality or event management will find their skills especially valuable, though these are not strict prerequisites. The ability to lift up to 30 pounds is essential due to the physical demands of the job. Moreover, candidates must demonstrate a positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, and the capacity to work well under pressure while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and efficiency in their work.

Ultimately, the college seeks team-oriented individuals who are willing to contribute in various capacities during events, helping to ensure memorable experiences for all guests and contributing to the institution's tradition of excellence in service and event execution.
