Job Description
The Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau (LRCVB) is a pivotal organization dedicated to promoting tourism and conventions in Little Rock, Arkansas. It operates with the mission to increase economic impact by attracting visitors and facilitating memorable experiences in the city and surrounding areas. The LRCVB manages various facilities that host numerous events ranging from small-scale meetings to large conventions and public assemblies. By fostering partnerships with local businesses and government entities, the bureau enhances the overall visitor experience and supports the local economy. The Bureau is an inclusive employer, committed to providing equal employment opportunities regardless of race, color, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, or veteran status, complying with all applicable laws and regulations.
This full-time, exempt position offers an annual salary of $52,499.20 and is an essential role within the Operations Division of LRCVB. The Small Event Coordinator will primarily be responsible for coordinating assigned small events held within the facilities operated by the Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau. This includes providing critical administrative support to the Event Manager(s) and ensuring seamless communication and execution of event logistics. The role requires strong organizational skills, a keen attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality event experiences.
The Small Event Coordinator is designated as a safety-sensitive position according to the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment, as the role involves responsibilities directly affecting the safety and security of events. This role is marked as essential personnel under the LRCVB inclement weather policy, indicating the necessity for availability during adverse weather conditions to maintain operations. The coordinator will need to be adept at multitasking and managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining professional communication with clients, vendors, and colleagues.
Candidates for this position are typically expected to hold a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Hotel Management, Marketing, Public Administration, or a related discipline. Additionally, one year of administrative or professional-level experience in a hospitality environment such as a hotel, convention center, stadium, or related public assembly/event facility is preferred, though equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered. The successful candidate should be comfortable working flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the event-driven nature of the job.
Certifications in Standard First Aid and Community CPR/AED are required within six months of employment and must be maintained throughout the duration of the position. The Small Event Coordinator may be subject to pre-employment screenings including drug and alcohol testing and background investigations to uphold the safety and integrity standards of the bureau.
The LRCVB offers a comprehensive benefits package to full-time employees, including multiple health insurance plan options, dental and vision insurance, life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance, long and short-term disability coverage, pension and retirement plans, flexible spending and health savings accounts, voluntary supplemental insurance coverage, tuition assistance, and paid time off (PTO). These benefits are designed to support the well-being, financial security, and professional growth of employees. The role is ideal for an organized, proactive individual passionate about event coordination and hospitality, who is eager to contribute to the success of the Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau and enhance the city’s reputation as a premier destination for events and tourism.
