Job Description

Music City Center is Nashville's premier convention center located in the heart of downtown Nashville, Tennessee. Opened in 2013, this 2.1 million square foot facility was designed and constructed to host large-scale city-wide conventions, making it a central hub for business, culture, and tourism in the region. The center is dedicated to fostering economic growth for the greater Nashville area by attracting both local and national events. Its mission emphasizes community inclusion, sustainability, and delivering exceptional customer service through a talented and committed team of professionals. Music City Center is recognized as a leader in event hosting, blending modern facilities with cutting-edge technology and versatile spaces that can accommodate a wide range of events, from intimate meetings to large conventions and exhibitions.

The position under discussion is an Event Coordinator role, which functions under the direct supervision of the Senior Event Manager. This role is integral to the successful coordination and production of small, local, and short-term business events including meetings, banquets, special events, and public functions. Additionally, the Event Coordinator provides valuable event coverage assistance for larger regional and national meetings, ensuring seamless event execution for clients and stakeholders. The role requires a proactive attitude in managing event logistics, client communications, and compliance with safety regulations. Responsibilities include assisting Senior Event Managers with event planning, communicating with clients to ascertain their needs, producing detailed event documents and floor plans, and ensuring legal compliance with safety and fire codes. The coordinator also acts as the operational leader or Manager on Duty during assigned events, overseeing setup, client support, and billing processes. Overall, this position contributes to Music City Center’s ongoing reputation as a premier site for high-quality events that stimulate economic activity and community engagement in Nashville. The role is ideal for professionals with 1-3 years of relevant experience in convention or event coordination, particularly those familiar with convention centers, conference centers, or hotels. A bachelor's degree is preferred but not mandatory, allowing for equivalent experience to qualify candidates. The employer is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity and inclusion and complies fully with Tennessee laws regarding employment and accommodations. This role offers a dynamic work environment with opportunities to participate in a variety of events that strengthen Nashville’s position as a top destination for conventions and public gatherings.
