The Event Chef role at Spice Catering Co. is a full-time position that is integral to the culinary leadership team. The Event Chef, otherwise referred to as the Chef de Cuisine, plays a vital role in managing and executing kitchen operations specifically for off-site events. This position requires a culinary professional with proven leadership skills who can oversee daily back-of-house activities, ensure strict adherence to food safety standards, and maintain high culinary quality across all event menu items. Charged with mentoring and coaching kitchen staff, the Chef de Cuisine is responsible for cultivating a positive and professional kitchen culture, supporting hiring and training initiatives, and coordinating closely with sales, event, and warehouse teams to facilitate seamless event execution. The role also involves managing inventory, minimizing waste, ensuring equipment maintenance, and participating in planning meetings for complex events. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, efficient, and capable of handling multiple priorities within a fast-paced setting. Moreover, availability to work evenings and weekends is essential.   • Experience with large-scale catering or off-site culinary production is a plus

Job Duties

  • Mentor, coach, and hold BOH team members accountable to Spice standards and core values
  • Lead daily pre-shift meetings and delegate responsibilities to ensure kitchen success
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and training of kitchen staff
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and professional kitchen culture
  • Oversee day-to-day kitchen operations, including food prep, event execution, and sanitation
  • Maintain high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and organization
  • Monitor food production for quality, consistency, and presentation
  • Manage equipment upkeep and report maintenance needs
  • Help manage inventory, ordering, and waste reduction practices
  • Ensure event prep and packing is completed with efficiency and accuracy
  • Coordinate closely with sales, event, and warehouse teams to ensure seamless execution
  • Attend planning meetings for large-scale or complex events
  • Communicate clearly and promptly to resolve challenges and ensure team alignment
