Job Description
King County is a vibrant and diverse community committed to equity, social justice, and inclusion. It is known for providing excellent public services and fostering an inclusive work environment, making it a great place to live, work, and play. King County’s Parks Division manages Marymoor Park, a beloved recreational area located at the north end of Lake Sammamish, which offers numerous year-round activities in a rich natural setting. This park is a central hub for community events, enjoying strong patronage from residents of all ages and backgrounds.
Marymoor Park regularly hosts a variety of special events that draw large crowds, necessitating organized and effective event management. Within this context, the Event Cashier Lead plays a pivotal role. This is not just a standard cashier position; it is a leadership role critical to ensuring smooth financial operations and positive customer interactions during events. The Event Cashier Lead oversees the process of collecting parking fees, manages a team of cashiers, and ensures that all operational and safety procedures are strictly followed.
This position requires keen attention to detail, strong leadership qualities, and excellent customer service skills. The Event Cashier Lead is responsible for training cashiers, monitoring traffic flow, resolving customer issues, and assisting with financial reconciliations and bank deposits. Given the nature of the events, the role involves working primarily evenings and weekends with a flexible schedule to accommodate different event timings. It also requires standing outdoors for long periods in various weather conditions and the ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
Being a part of King County means embracing its commitment to equity and racial and social justice. The Event Cashier Lead is expected to actively apply these principles in all aspects of their work, fostering respect, inclusion, and trust among all patrons and team members alike. The role also involves clear, respectful communication and maintaining positive working relationships within the team and with the public.
This role is also an opportunity for someone who enjoys engaging with community members, working outdoors, and taking on leadership responsibilities in a dynamic setting. King County’s Parks Division offers competitive compensation and a generous benefits package designed to meet the diverse needs of its employees. Benefits include excellent medical, dental, and vision options, life and disability insurance, retirement plans, paid holidays, vacation and sick leave, and wellness programs. Additionally, flexible schedules and telecommuting options are available depending on position specifics.
King County provides a stable and inclusive workplace with a strong culture of accountability, integrity, and service excellence. The Event Cashier Lead position is ideal for candidates who have at least two years of money handling and cashiering experience at Marymoor Park events and possess the ability to manage conflicts and communicate effectively. This role is covered under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is overtime eligible, reflecting its importance and the commitment it requires.
Joining King County means contributing to a service organization recognized for leadership and innovative government services, committed to providing a great experience to both its employees and the community it serves. As part of this team, you will help continue the tradition of making Marymoor Park and King County one of the best places to live and enjoy nature, with a support structure designed to enable you to thrive in your role.
