Job Description
The JB Duke Hotel is a distinguished hospitality establishment recognized for its commitment to excellence and outstanding guest experiences. Nested in a vibrant community, the hotel offers a blend of rich tradition and modern luxury, serving both corporate and leisure travelers. Known for its elegant banquet and event facilities, the JB Duke Hotel hosts a wide variety of events ranging from corporate meetings and conferences to weddings and celebrations. The hotel prides itself on its dedicated team that works collaboratively to ensure every guest receives unparalleled service and satisfaction. As a full-service hotel operating 24/7, it offers a dynamic work environment that fosters professional growth and team spirit. Embracing sustainability and continuous improvement, the hotel integrates green practices and innovative hospitality standards that set it apart in the competitive lodging and event market.
We are currently seeking a talented and detail-oriented Banquet Captain to join our Food & Beverage team in a full-time capacity with flexible AM/PM shifts. This role is pivotal in leading and coordinating all aspects of assigned banquet functions to ensure flawless execution aligned with the hotel's standards of quality and guest satisfaction. The Banquet Captain will review banquet event orders, manage staff assignments, oversee event setups, and ensure that service delivery during functions is impeccable. You will work closely with culinary teams and management to review menus, headcounts, and special guest requirements while inspecting function rooms for cleanliness, layout accuracy, and compliance. Leadership and effective communication are core to this role as you conduct pre-function staff meetings, supervise service delivery, and handle post-event responsibilities such as billing, inventory documentation, and cleanup coordination.
In addition, the Banquet Captain will manage cash bar duties when applicable, ensuring accurate handling of cash and drink tickets in accordance with hotel policies. This role demands physical stamina capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and performing tasks that involve standing and walking for extended periods. Candidates should have strong organizational skills and previous supervisory experience, ideally with at least one year as a banquet server and two years in event planning or hospitality services. Proficiency in event management software and exceptional problem-solving abilities will aid in maintaining smooth event flows despite the dynamic nature of the workday.
The JB Duke Hotel offers a competitive compensation package that includes health, dental, vision, and life insurance, along with supplemental coverage options like disability and critical illness protection. Employees benefit from a generous paid time off program and eight paid holidays annually, with opportunities for 401(k) participation and employer match eligibility after six months. Complimentary employee meals, free on-site parking, family and friend discounts, and an Employee Assistance Program create a supportive and family-like workplace culture. The hotel values flexibility and teamwork, recognizing that extraordinary results are achieved through collaboration and dedication. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated banquet professional seeking to advance their career in a well-respected hospitality environment.
