The city prioritizes creating inclusive, engaging, and well-maintained spaces for all residents and visitors, facilitating a variety of recreational programs and community events year-round.

The City of Leawood is seeking a part-time Event Attendant to join its Recreation division. This role is especially suited to individuals who are proactive, possess strong problem-solving skills, and excel in providing excellent customer service within a team-oriented environment.

The role demands a professional who can manage diverse responsibilities such as greeting event patrons, assisting with event setups, coordinating with vendors, handling audio/visual equipment, and ensuring that each event adheres to city policies and standards. This part-time position offers flexibility with average weekly hours ranging from 10 to 20, primarily covering evenings and weekends, which are peak times for community events. The pay rate starts at $16.00 per hour, reflecting the responsibility and skills required to support the city’s event operations efficiently.

Applicants should have a strong customer-focused attitude and the ability to multitask and prioritize duties effectively. The ability to communicate clearly and courteously with the public, city staff, and third-party vendors is essential to deliver a seamless event experience. Successfully performing in this role also includes maintaining facility cleanliness, completing opening and closing procedures, and assisting with municipal recreation programs. The position requires flexibility to serve different facility locations, adapt to seasonal variations in event schedules, and uphold the city’s standards of professionalism and safety.

This opportunity is ideal for individuals looking to contribute to their community by supporting public recreation and event activities, gain experience in event facilitation, and engage with diverse groups of people in a dynamic work environment. The City of Leawood offers an encouraging atmosphere for growth and contribution to community well-being through roles like the Event Attendant.
