Job Description
The Oklahoma City Thunder, a professional basketball team based in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, is renowned both for its competitive spirit on the court and its commitment to community engagement. Part of the National Basketball Association (NBA), the Thunder is dedicated to providing fans with memorable sports and entertainment experiences. The team is headquartered at the Paycom Center in downtown Oklahoma City, a premier venue that hosts numerous thrilling games and events throughout the season. Known for fostering a dynamic and inclusive culture, the Thunder is not only a sports organization but also a vibrant community partner deeply invested in fan development and engagement.
The Thunder is currently seeking a Part-Time Events Associate to join its Fan Development team. This role offers a unique opportunity for individuals passionate about event planning and the live entertainment industry, particularly within the sports sector. The Events Associate will play a vital role in supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of a variety of fan and partner events. These events are designed to engage guests and attendees, creating memorable experiences that strengthen fan loyalty and enhance the team's brand presence.
This position is part-time and involves hands-on work in event operations, fan engagement, and the logistics of event execution. Working closely with the Event Presentation Lead and multiple internal teams, the Events Associate will assist in developing event concepts, managing timelines, coordinating resources, and executing events both on-site at the Paycom Center and throughout the metro area. This diverse role requires flexibility, organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, often unpredictable environment. Candidates should be prepared to work evenings, weekends, and holidays in alignment with the team's event schedule.
Key responsibilities include coordinating with vendors, suppliers, and partners to secure necessary services and materials, ensuring events are smoothly executed from start to finish. The role also involves administrative tasks such as maintaining records, managing budgets, and documenting event details. On event days, the Events Associate will support setup, registration, guest services, and teardown, ensuring all event elements are properly handled, stored, and inventoried.
The work environment is dynamic and can involve both indoor and outdoor activities under varying weather conditions. Candidates should be comfortable with physical demands such as lifting up to 50 pounds and exposure to sensory stimuli like loud noise and flashing lights common at live sports and entertainment events. Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license are required due to frequent local travel to event sites.
Joining the Oklahoma City Thunder means becoming part of an organization that values diversity and inclusion through its RAVE culture - Respect and Value Everyone. The organization is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to fair treatment of all applicants regardless of various legally protected statuses. The Thunder fosters a welcoming environment that supports employee growth and encourages collaboration across diverse teams.
This part-time position offers an excellent stepping stone for individuals looking to gain valuable experience in sports event management and fan engagement. It provides exposure to a professional sports team's operational aspects, enhancing skills in logistics, vendor management, and customer service. The role is ideal for those seeking to contribute to exciting events that captivate audiences while building a career in sports, entertainment, or event planning industries.
