Job Description
Riverfront Spokane and Spokane Parks are prominent public organizations dedicated to providing exceptional recreational and event experiences within the Spokane community. As stewards of some of the city's most frequented parks and event venues, these organizations focus on fostering community engagement, environmental stewardship, and offering diverse programming that meets the needs of residents and visitors alike. Both entities prioritize creating safe, welcoming, and enjoyable environments that elevate the quality of life through well-managed public spaces and vibrant events.
The TEMP SEASONAL EVENT ASSISTANT position is a vital role within Riverfront Spokane and Spokane Parks' event management operations. This temporary, seasonal role is designed to support the smooth execution of a wide variety of community events, rentals, and programming that occur throughout the year—particularly during peak seasons. Candidates in this role will engage in a broad spectrum of logistical and administrative duties that ensure every event runs efficiently and successfully. The hiring process for this position is ongoing, with the first round of selections beginning in March and additional rounds planned through April and May of 2026. The hourly wage for this opportunity is set at USD 20.
As a TEMP SEASONAL EVENT ASSISTANT, you will play an essential part in coordinating operations between park teams and city departments to facilitate event setup, execution, and breakdown. The role demands proficiency in customer service as you will greet and welcome guests, providing them with exceptional support and information. Operating computers and office equipment to manage records, communications, and event documentation is a fundamental aspect of your day-to-day responsibilities. In addition, you may be tasked with special projects that promote continuous development and process improvement within the event management teams.
Independence and initiative are crucial traits as you will often be required to work autonomously to survey event venues and ensure all necessary preparations are in place ahead of each event. Collaboration with event organizers is key to resolving logistical challenges and ensuring program success. The role may also include physical tasks such as janitorial duties and operating motor vehicles to move between various park locations. Attendance at pre-event planning meetings will keep you informed and prepared for each event, enabling seamless coordination with other staff members.
This position requires flexibility concerning work hours, including early mornings, late evenings, and weekend availability to accommodate the full scope of events hosted by Riverfront Spokane and Spokane Parks. To qualify, applicants must be at least 18 years old, possess a valid driver’s license, and be able to pass a background check and a pre-employment drug screening. Given the safety-sensitive nature of this role, there is an expectation of maintaining sobriety and adhering to safety protocols to mitigate any risks during event operations.
Prospective candidates should be prepared to submit a resume along with two professional references. The hiring process will include interviews, criminal background checks, reference verifications, and may also involve aptitude and physical tests depending on the specific requirements of the position. Riverfront Spokane and Spokane Parks are equal opportunity employers committed to encouraging diversity within their workforce and prohibit discrimination across a variety of protected characteristics, ensuring a supportive and inclusive workplace environment.
