Job Description
LA28 is the independent, non-profit, privately funded organizing committee for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. This prestigious organization is on a singular mission to create an Olympic and Paralympic Games that celebrate all that Los Angeles and the United States have to offer. LA28 is dedicated to delivering an unparalleled experience for athletes, fans, partners, and the community at large. The 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games mark a significant moment in history as they represent the return of the Summer Games to the U.S. for the first time in 32 years. It is also Los Angeles’ third time hosting the Olympic Games and its first time welcoming the Paralympic Games. This historic event provides a unique and exciting opportunity to celebrate the city’s legacy while pushing the Olympic and Paralympic Movements forward, writing a new chapter of Games history in Los Angeles.
Putting on an Olympic and Paralympic Games is a massive and complex undertaking that requires a team effort. LA28 strives to assemble the best team possible, enriched with diverse perspectives, experiences, and expertise. The organization is guided by core values and behaviors such as optimism, integrity, excellence, inclusion, co-creation, and boldness, and actively seeks individuals whose past experiences align with these principles.
The role of Event and Venue General Manager (EGM) is a key leadership position within the Event and Venue Management (EVM) team at LA28. This team is responsible for leading the integrated operational planning and execution at multiple competition and non-competition venues. As the EGM, you will be entrusted with the leadership of operational planning and delivery for an Olympic and Paralympic Games venue. Your responsibilities will extend to driving cross-functional operational integration and managing a venue team during Games time to ensure successful event execution.
This position demands robust stakeholder management capabilities and experience in large-scale venue planning and operational delivery. You will work closely with venue owners, local authorities, and other critical stakeholders to ensure readiness and optimal venue performance. The EGM reports directly to the Head of Venues and Sports and plays an instrumental role in embodying the LA28 values and behaviors in every facet of planning and engagement.
The position offers an annual base salary range of $126,000 to $160,000, with compensation subject to final determination based on candidate qualifications and experience. LA28 does not provide relocation assistance. The role is located in Los Angeles and requires in-person attendance, with occasional travel to various venues across the region. The work environment is primarily office-based but also involves site visits and hands-on venue management during peak event periods, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
By joining LA28 as an Event and Venue General Manager, you will be at the heart of one of the largest sporting events in the world, contributing to an inclusive, accessible, and world-class Olympic and Paralympic Games experience. This opportunity is ideal for a strategic and tactical thinker, a collaborative leader, and a creative problem solver who thrives in dynamic environments and is committed to making a meaningful impact on the future of Los Angeles and the Olympic legacy.
