The Estimator role at ServiceMaster is a critical position that directly impacts the company's success. This position requires a highly detail-oriented individual who is proficient in creating accurate and comprehensive estimates using Xactimate software to industry guidelines and IICRC standards. The Estimator plays a pivotal role in the commercial and insurance restoration industry. Candidates are expected to have a basic construction background encompassing knowledge of building materials, flooring, and other materials that are commonly affected by property damage caused by natural disasters and accidents such as water, wind, fire, and smoke.

Expertise with Xactimate is an essential requirement, as this software is the cornerstone of the estimation process. Applicants who do not possess experience and demonstrated knowledge of Xactimate will not be considered. The screening process includes a test of the candidate's familiarity with the software to ensure competency. The role involves inspecting and scoping jobs onsite in collaboration with project managers, crew chiefs, and lead technicians to ensure complete and accurate job assessments. Meticulous documentation, including clear and descriptive job photos, is a crucial part of the duties to maintain detailed records within the company’s operating systems.

The Estimator writes mitigation and reconstruction estimates that adhere to insurance carrier audit standards, adjusting and managing the estimates according to client and customer feedback. Effective communication is vital; therefore, the Estimator is responsible for updating key information related to the job in the software notes, liaising with project managers and lead technicians to verify that all required documentation such as photos, notes, and signed documents are completed thoroughly. The role also involves the recording of drying processes through mobile software, determining labor and equipment costs, and preparing accurate quantity takeoffs and materials pricing to ensure realistic and reliable estimates.

Additionally, the Estimator manages all estimate documents, performs risk assessments related to projects, and communicates promptly with insurance companies and adjusters to facilitate smooth claim processes. Collaboration with the construction project team to review quotes and estimates is a regular part of the work, as is addressing any estimate exceptions in a timely manner. Physical demands of the role can be substantial, including lifting up to 70 pounds, extensive standing and walking, squatting, crawling, and crouching, as well as the use of respirators and working in varying environmental conditions.   • Estimate using carrier audit standards and manage the estimate based on feedback from client and customer
  • Communicate with project manager lead tech to ensure all required documentation is complete photos, notes and documents signed
  • Record of drying using mobile software
  • Determine labor and equipment costs
  • Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and materials pricing
  • Communicate with insurance companies and adjusters via phone and email in a timely manner and act as a liaison
  • Manage all estimate documents and assess project risks
