Job Description
Shoreline Adult Education (SAE) is a dedicated educational institution committed to providing adult learners in the Branford and Clinton areas with high-quality educational programs that promote lifelong learning and personal growth. As part of the broader Branford Public Schools district, SAE focuses on supporting diverse adult populations, including non-native English speakers and those seeking citizenship. The center prides itself on fostering an inclusive, supportive learning environment tailored to meet the unique needs of adult students aiming to improve their language skills and professional prospects. Our programs emphasize practical skills, comprehensive instruction, and community engagement to empower learners to succeed both academically and socially.
Currently, Shoreline Adult Education invites applications for the position of ESOL Evening Co-Manager for the 2026-2027 school year. This 10-month, part-time role, paying $47.00 per hour, is an integral part of the SAE Management Team and is focused on the oversight and administration of ESOL classes offered during morning and/or evening sessions. Reporting to the Director of Adult Education, the successful candidate will hold responsibilities both at Branford High School and Morgan High School in Clinton. The ESOL Co-Manager is tasked with providing strategic leadership in managing ESOL and Citizenship programming, ensuring compliance with federal and state education requirements, and supporting instructional excellence.
The role requires a highly skilled educator and leader who can effectively coordinate programming, manage grants, supervise and develop staff, and maintain curriculum standards aligned with Connecticut State Department of Education guidelines. The ESOL Evening Co-Manager collaborates closely with program facilitators and support staff to oversee student registration, attendance, assessment, and outcome tracking via the LACES database system. Familiarity with the CASAS Assessment System is essential for guiding classroom instruction and staff professional development.
This position involves significant interaction with a diverse adult learner population, requiring excellent communication skills and cultural sensitivity. In addition to administrative duties and instructional oversight, the ESOL Co-Manager plays a pivotal role in fostering a supportive learning environment through staff mentorship and community collaboration. The work environment is primarily classroom and school-based, necessitating proficiency in technology applications including Google Workspace and Google Classroom. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to multitask, lead, and communicate effectively among faculty, students, and community stakeholders. Shoreline Adult Education is committed to accommodating individuals with disabilities and encourages diverse applicants.
The position is available starting August 10, 2026, with no less than 15 hours per week expected. Prospective candidates are encouraged to contact Christine Bjork at [email protected] or call (203) 488-5693 for further information. This opportunity is ideal for experienced ESOL educators ready to impact adult education positively within a supportive, dynamic educational community.
