This opportunity is for a part-time Kitchen Team Member position at the Oceanside location. The role is a key part of the restaurant’s kitchen operations and works directly under the supervision of the General and Kitchen Managers. The Kitchen Team Member is responsible for preparing and cooking menu items, predominantly focusing on making pizzas and related components such as dough, sauce, and toppings. Attention to detail, speed, and a strong work ethic are vital for success in this position as the kitchen can be busy and fast-moving.

The individual in this role will be expected to maintain high standards of food quality, preparation, and presentation while ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation guidelines. They will utilize large-volume cooking equipment such as griddles, grills, and deep fryers, handling multiple orders simultaneously without sacrificing accuracy or consistency. The Kitchen Team Member also supports the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including washing dishes, sterilizing equipment, monitoring inventory levels, and assisting with stock replenishment.

As this is a part-time role, flexibility with scheduling is essential, particularly with availability on weekends, evenings, and holidays to meet the restaurant’s operational demands. The position requires physical stamina to handle the demands of standing, walking, lifting, and manual dexterity for food preparation activities. Importantly, all staff must hold or obtain a valid Food Handler Card within 30 days of hire to comply with state health regulations.

Best Pizza & Brew offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $16.00 to $20.00 plus tips, alongside employee discounts and a supportive team environment that encourages personal and professional growth. The restaurant operates Sunday through Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Friday to Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., providing ample hours and opportunities for part-time team members to earn and develop their skills in a high-energy, customer-focused setting. This role is ideal for individuals with prior kitchen or food service experience who are passionate about pizza making, eager to deliver quality food, and enjoy working as part of a dedicated team.

Job Requirements

  • Previous kitchen experience in a fast paced restaurant setting
  • experience as a pizza maker is a plus
  • possess a service-oriented mindset with a desire to deliver the highest quality food while helping the team
  • clear and effective communication skills
  • basic understanding of or ability to learn basic sanitation and regulations for workplace safety
  • basic understanding of or ability to learn food-handling techniques, preparation, and cooking procedures
  • previous experience working in the hospitality and service industry is a plus
  • ability to stay organized, prioritize work, and ensure timely task completion in a busy, fast paced, and often changing environment
  • possess and maintain all appropriate certifications (i.e. Food Handlers Card, LEAD Training, etc.)
  • weekend, evening, and holiday availability is a must

Job Duties

  • Bake pizza and prepare related ingredients such as dough, sauce, and toppings
  • prepare batches of food cooked to order or kept warm until sold including appetizers and sides
  • operate large-volume cooking equipment such as griddles, grills, or deep fryers
  • prepare and cook food according to order instructions and verify quality and quantity of all orders
  • multitask by cooking several different orders simultaneously ensuring adherence to customer instructions
  • wash and sanitize dishes and utensils maintaining cleanliness during business hours
  • monitor food inventory, clean cooking stations, sterilize equipment, and replace supplies as needed
  • maintain sanitation, health, cleanliness, and safety standards in food preparation and cooking areas
