The current opportunity is for a part-time Kitchen Team Member who will work under the guidance of the General and Kitchen Manager to create a memorable culinary experience for the restaurant's guests. This role is a perfect fit for candidates who love pizza and enjoy working in a busy kitchen environment where teamwork, attention to detail, and efficiency are valued. The Kitchen Team Member will be involved in various aspects of food preparation, cooking, and presentation to ensure that all dishes meet the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction.

In this role, the kitchen staff member's primary responsibility is baking pizzas and preparing ingredients including dough preparation, fresh sauce making, and chopping toppings such as meats and vegetables. The role extends beyond pizza making to the preparation of a wide range of menu items, including appetizers and sides, with an emphasis on delicious, freshly cooked food. The position entails operating various large-volume cooking equipment like griddles, grills, and deep fryers, ensuring that all food is cooked according to precise instructions and quality guidelines.

Employees must be adept at multitasking by managing several food orders simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and consistency in taste and presentation. Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen is a critical aspect of this job, which requires washing and sanitizing dishes and utensils promptly, cleaning cooking stations, sterilizing equipment, and monitoring food inventory to keep the kitchen running efficiently. The Kitchen Team Member also plays a vital role in upholding health and safety standards to provide a safe environment for customers and colleagues alike.

This position requires strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize tasks, and the flexibility to adapt in a busy and often changing environment. Candidates should possess a service-oriented mindset, excellent communication skills, and the capability to learn and comply with food handling and workplace safety regulations. Previous experience in a fast-paced restaurant environment or pizza making is considered highly beneficial.

The working environment is fast-paced and bustling, where employees must be physically able to stand, walk, lift, push, bend, and use their hands effectively to handle kitchen tools and ingredients. Awareness of safety hazards in a kitchen setting, including hot surfaces and heavy equipment, is necessary to comply with safety standards and maintain a smooth operation.

This part-time position requires weekend, evening, and holiday availability, aligning with the restaurant's operating hours: Sunday through Thursday from 11am to 9pm, and Fridays and Saturdays from 10am to 10pm. A current Food Handler Card is mandatory for all staff, with a grace period of 30 days upon hire for those who do not yet have one to obtain this certification.

Job Duties

  • Baking pizza and preparing related ingredients such as dough, sauce, and toppings
  • preparing batches of food to order or keeping them warm including custom and standard pizzas as well as appetizers and sides
  • operating large-volume cooking equipment such as griddles, grills, or deep fryers
  • preparing and cooking food according to instructions on order slips or verbal directions
  • multitasking by cooking several different orders simultaneously ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • washing and sanitizing dishes and utensils to meet restaurant business levels
  • monitoring food inventory, cleaning cooking stations, sterilizing equipment, and replacing supplies as needed
  • maintaining overall sanitation, health, cleanliness, and safety standards in food preparation areas and cooking services
