Job Description
Gate Gourmet is a leading global provider of airline catering and provisioning services that aims to enhance the travel experience for millions of passengers worldwide. A subsidiary of gategroup, the company is dedicated to delivering high-quality, innovative services that ensure seamless operations for airline partners. Known for its commitment to excellence, integrity, passion, and accountability, Gate Gourmet operates in numerous countries, offering extensive meal solutions, equipment management, and service support to airlines. Their mission is to contribute positively to the journey of every traveler by providing superior catering solutions through a dedicated workforce and cutting-edge processes. As an organization, Gate Gourmet fosters a diverse and inclusive environment, welcoming talented individuals who share their values and passion for excellence. They emphasize continuous improvement and operational efficiency, with a strong focus on safety, quality standards, and customer satisfaction, making them a preferred employer in the airline catering industry.
The role of Equipment, Liquor/Beverage and Transportation Supervisor is a full-time, exempt position based in the USA. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising employees in multiple operational areas including equipment handling, pre-load activities, liquor and beverage processes, and transportation logistics within the catering service environment. This supervisory position requires managing a team of up to 75 employees, with an average of 35 unionized workers under direct oversight. The key responsibilities focus on ensuring timely completion of catering support activities while maintaining excellence in quality, safety, and compliance with airline specifications and company policies.
In this role, the supervisor will lead operational teams to meet quality production standards, maintain accurate documentation such as temperature logs and HAACCP reports, control food and labor costs, and drive process improvements. They will be engaged in workforce management including staffing, scheduling, employee coaching, evaluations, and retention efforts. The supervisor ensures compliance with labor laws, union agreements, and company policies on wage and hour standards. The position demands strong leadership skills to effectively manage diverse teams, deliver constructive feedback, and maintain a productive work environment that aligns with Gate Gourmet's values. Candidates should be adept in balancing operational priorities, handling multiple tasks simultaneously, and driving positive change within their unit.
Additional responsibilities include maintaining inventory controls, coordinating with maintenance staff for equipment upkeep, verifying accuracy of airline diagrams and specifications, and completing required requisitions to support smooth operations. The supervisor will also prepare management reports reflecting attendance, labor usage, and compliance metrics to provide insightful data for continuous improvement. Given the significant interface with unionized employees, experience or familiarity with labor relations is advantageous but not mandatory. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, ability to obtain ServSafe certification, and excellent communication skills are essential. Being bilingual in any of the following—Spanish, Chinese Mandarin, Vietnamese, Hindi, or Polish—is considered a plus.
Gate Gourmet values employees who demonstrate integrity by treating colleagues with respect, communicate openly, collaborate to achieve excellence, and embody passion for their work by paying attention to detail. Accountability is central to the company culture, where employees take responsibility for their actions and strive to meet commitments. This enthusiastic and supportive work environment aims to foster personal growth and teamwork that ultimately elevate the airline catering experience. If you aspire to be part of a dynamic team dedicated to making travel and culinary memories, this opportunity with Gate Gourmet is an excellent fit.
