Job Description

Lufthansa Cargo Aktiengesellschaft, headquartered in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, is a premier subsidiary of Deutsche Lufthansa Aktiengesellschaft and one of the world’s leading air freight carriers. With a workforce of approximately 4,150 employees globally, Lufthansa Cargo specializes in the airport-to-airport business, servicing around 300 destinations across more than 100 countries. The company operates a sophisticated network consisting of its own fleet of freighters, utilizes the belly capacities of passenger aircraft operated by the Lufthansa Group, and has an extensive road feeder service network. Frankfurt Airport is the primary hub where the bulk of its cargo volume is processed, allowing the company to efficiently manage and move goods worldwide. Lufthansa Cargo is dedicated to maintaining a balance between operational excellence and sustainable practices, connecting people, cultures, and economies responsibly and efficiently. The company embraces a diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging philosophy as an integral part of its corporate DNA, fostering an innovative and competitive work environment with equal opportunity for all employees regardless of background.

The role of the Aircraft Loading Supervisor is a vital position within Lufthansa Cargo’s flight operations, based in Los Angeles, CA. This full-time direct entry position offers an hourly wage ranging from $25.55 to $51.11 USD and requires a hands-on leader capable of managing ground handling operations effectively. The Aircraft Loading Supervisor is entrusted with planning aircraft load distribution and optimizing cargo per the General Operations Manual (GOM), ensuring maximum safety and efficiency in cargo handling processes. This individual prepares critical flight documents such as notifications, loadsheets, and the Notification to Captain (NOTOC), while coordinating with Ground Handling Agents (GHA) to optimize loading and unloading activities at the station. Additionally, the supervisor dispatches operational messages, maintains detailed traffic reports, and monitors the airworthiness of Unit Load Devices (ULD) and ramp conditions to guarantee operational readiness.

Supervisory duties include overseeing or directly performing aircraft loading and unloading to uphold safety and quality compliance standards. The role also involves supporting the crew in tasks related to briefings, catering, and accommodations, providing assistance with cargo handling. This position demands adherence to updated procedures, performing surveillance, and reporting any incidents promptly to maintain operational integrity. Furthermore, the Aircraft Loading Supervisor assists in managing Ground Handling Agents’ workforce, providing staff feedback, scheduling training sessions, and monitoring subcontractor performance to ensure high standards are met consistently. Known for working under time pressure and shifting outdoor conditions such as noise pollution and weather, this role requires resilience, stress management, and physical capability to lift up to 70 pounds.

As part of Lufthansa Group, employees benefit from a dynamic, inclusive, and supportive workplace culture. This opportunity allows professionals to join an industry-leading company fostering growth, innovation, and collaboration while contributing to the seamless functioning of global air freight operations. If you are motivated, organized, and safety-conscious, ready to take on the challenges of flight operations and ground handling with precision and power, Lufthansa Cargo invites you to apply and be part of its mission to elevate cargo logistics to new heights.
