Job Description

Veolia is a leading environmental company in North America, recognized for its excellence in water, waste, and energy management services. Having acquired Clean Earth, Veolia is now integrating its operations and continuing to expand its commitment to sustainable solutions and environmental responsibility. The company is the largest private water operator and technology provider in the United States, as well as a key player in hazardous waste and pollution treatment. Headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, Veolia employs over 10,000 professionals across more than 350 locations throughout North America, serving a diverse group of customers including commercial, industrial, healthcare, higher education, and municipalities. Veolia's extensive service offering includes water and wastewater treatment, commercial and hazardous waste collection and disposal, energy consulting, and resource recovery. With such a broad range of services, the company prides itself on delivering innovative and environmentally sound solutions that meet the evolving needs of its clients while fostering sustainability and compliance with environmental regulations.

The Environmental Technician II role at Veolia, enhanced by the expertise garnered from Clean Earth's legacy, is a vital position responsible for managing and treating hazardous waste streams. The individual in this role is expected to have thorough knowledge of inbound waste streams, including their identification, treatment, and compliance protocols. This includes hands-on operation of equipment essential for waste processing such as pit mixers, drum pumps, drum dumping tools, and operating heavy machinery like hi-lo forklifts and wheel loaders. The technician must carefully document all processes in line with established company procedures and regulatory guidelines to ensure safety and environmental compliance. This role requires someone with practical experience who can handle potentially hazardous materials safely and efficiently, contributing to Veolia's mission of environmental stewardship and operational excellence.

As an Environmental Technician II, you will be responsible for several duties that are critical to the daily operations at the facility. These duties involve precise sampling of inbound waste for compatibility checks, safe unloading and transfer of bulk liquids to proper tanks, and immediate resolution and reporting of any discrepancies or issues with inbound loads. Equipment operation skills, especially with forklifts and wheel loaders, are essential and must be executed with a strict adherence to safety protocols. The position also requires adaptability to perform additional related duties as assigned by management. Candidates must be willing to work in outdoor conditions across various climate scenarios and must comply with company safety standards by using personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hard hats, steel-toed shoes, gloves, Tyvek coveralls, and respirators.

This role offers a comprehensive benefits package that highlights Veolia’s commitment to employee well-being, including paid time off, health, dental, vision, and life insurance. The company also promotes professional growth through tuition reimbursement and supports community involvement with paid volunteering time. Furthermore, starting no later than January 1, 2027, employees will be able to participate in a company-sponsored 401(k) retirement savings plan. Veolia values diversity and equal opportunity employment, ensuring all qualified applicants receive fair consideration. This position is a full-time role, and compensation details are provided as accurate as of the posting date, with a disclaimer regarding potential future modifications in line with applicable laws.
