This full-time position demands a dedicated individual responsible for a variety of cleaning and maintenance duties that ensure hospital areas including patient rooms, surgery rooms, patient dismissal rooms, lavatories, offices, and hallways are kept in pristine condition. The janitor is entrusted with essential tasks such as stripping and waxing floors, washing and remaking beds post-patient dismissal, managing utility and storage rooms, distributing linens, replacing soiled drapes and curtains, and potentially disinfecting and sterilizing equipment under strict healthcare protocols.

Job Requirements

- Knowledge of germicides, disinfectants, cleaning supplies used in health care
- Skill in operation and maintenance of janitorial equipment

- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
- Willingness to work in a hospital setting with exposure to infectious and hazardous materials
Job Qualifications

- Knowledge of janitorial and housekeeping practices and procedures used in health care facilities

- General working knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry repairs beneficial
- Ability to courteously and effectively communicate with patients, visitors, and co-workers
- Ability to carry out written and verbal instructions
Job Duties
- Clean hospital patient areas, surgery, patient dismissal rooms, baths, lavatories, offices, halls and other areas of the facility
- Assist in the stripping and waxing of floors as necessary
- Ensure patient rooms are ready for newly admitted patients in a timely manner
- Wash beds and mattresses, and remake beds after dismissal of patients
- Keep utility and storage rooms organized and in a clean and orderly condition
- Distribute laundered articles and linens
- Replace soiled drapes and cubicle curtains
- Disinfect and sterilize equipment and supplies using germicides and sterilizing
- Replenish and maintain stock of supplies
- Transport trash and hazardous waste to appropriate disposal area
- Perform other duties as required
