This institution operates within a hospital setting, emphasizing rigorous adherence to health and safety protocols, especially in the handling of infections, infectious diseases, and biohazardous materials. Employees at the Department of Health play a vital role in upholding these standards, contributing significantly to the smooth operation and positive experience of healthcare delivery.
The Janitorial position at the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Department of Health is a crucial role designed to maintain an aesthetic, clean, and safe environment throughout the facilities. The janitor is entrusted with essential tasks such as stripping and waxing floors, washing and remaking beds post-patient dismissal, managing utility and storage rooms, distributing linens, replacing soiled drapes and curtains, and potentially disinfecting and sterilizing equipment under strict healthcare protocols.
Working in this role entails exposure to a hospital environment with associated risks including infectious diseases and hazardous materials, requiring a constant awareness of safety precautions and adherence to health regulations. Physical demands of the job include standing for the entire work period and engaging in regular bending, lifting, stooping, climbing, and stretching. The janitorial professional must be capable of lifting a minimum of 50 pounds, exemplifying the physically demanding nature of the role. Effective communication skills are necessary to interact courteously with patients, visitors, and healthcare staff. The successful candidate will need at least a high school diploma or GED, with progressive janitorial experience preferred, especially in healthcare environments.
