Job Description
The Muscogee (Creek) Nation Department of Health is a distinguished healthcare institution dedicated to maintaining the well-being and safety of patients, staff, and visitors within their facilities. As a key component of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation's expansive healthcare system, this department is committed to delivering top-tier health services while ensuring that the environment is clean, safe, and welcoming. This healthcare department prides itself on its core values of respect, integrity, and excellence in public service, striving continually to meet and exceed community health needs. Working within a hospital setting, the Department of Health emphasizes a safe and hygienic environment, which is critical for patient recovery and overall public health safety.
The role of a Janitorial Specialist within this esteemed department is vital in supporting these core objectives. This position entails maintaining an aesthetic, clean, and safe environment throughout the various health facilities operated by the Muscogee (Creek) Nation. The Janitorial Specialist acts as a frontline contributor in infection control and facility maintenance, playing a crucial part in the daily operations that facilitate patient care and comfort. This position is designed for individuals with a strong background in janitorial or housekeeping services in healthcare settings, equipped with knowledge of disinfectants, cleaning supplies, and machinery necessary for professional cleaning standards.
Responsibilities revolve around ensuring that all patient care areas, including surgery rooms, patient dismissal rooms, baths, lavatories, offices, and hallways, are cleaned meticulously to meet health and safety regulations. The specialist will also perform routine maintenance tasks such as stripping and waxing floors, washing beds and mattresses, replacing laundered linens and curtains, and managing utility rooms and storage spaces to stay organized and compliant with hospital protocols.
Because the work environment presents potential exposure to infectious diseases, chemicals, and biohazardous materials, the Janitorial Specialist must adhere rigorously to safety procedures and guidelines. This role requires physical stamina, including the ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds and engage in frequent bending, lifting, stooping, climbing, and stretching. The position demands consistent attendance and reliability, as the health and cleanliness of the facility directly affect patient outcomes and overall public health.
This is a full-time position within the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Department of Health, offering a meaningful career where one can contribute significantly to community health through diligent and skilled janitorial support. Through this role, employees gain valuable experience working in a dynamic healthcare environment while developing skills in equipment maintenance, chemical handling, and safety compliance. By joining this team, the janitorial specialist becomes an integral part of the health system’s commitment to providing a safe, sanitized, and comfortable atmosphere for patients, families, healthcare providers, and visitors alike.
